"MOTOR MAJORITY" PROTESTS LeMONS DC RACE In fight against "immoral engine-swap agenda," group files court case, plans sit-ins at Summit Point Raceway.
Washington DC--A coalition of church groups, concours promoters, earlobe-haired coots, and Porsche 944 owners clubs has requested an injunction against the June 15-16 Capitol Offense LeMons at Summit Point WV (online signups due this Saturday). The self-proclaimed "Motor Majority" picketed in front of the Supreme Court last week, carrying signs such as "One Engine, One Chassis" and "God Hates Fabs."
Claiming LeMons' "radical engine-swap agenda" encouraged teams to replace blow-uppy mills like the Toyota 20R, GM 2.8-V6, and anything ever constructed by Audi with "hedonistic junkyard alternatives," MM chief spokescoot Maurice 'Moe' Parr said "Nature's plan is one engine, one car, one marque. By promoting unnatural congress between an MR2 and an aircraft radial, or a BMW and a Chrysler Slant-6, or a 300ZX and a Saab Turbo 4-banger, LeMons' free-wheeling, poly-motor lifestyle threatens the very fabric of normal, healthy, red-blooded car collecting. What's next: Multiple engines in one racecar?"
Parr shuddered visibly upon learning that LeMons already hosts several such vehicles.
In its official response, LeMons' legal counsel Cassie Boies-Olson said, "What consenting mechanics do behind closed garage doors is nobody else's business. True freedom embraces all marques and encourages stable marriages between all powertrains and chassis. This group's hate speech would deny equal protection to a huge range of vehicles, from Dodge's new Fiat-4 Dart to Team Firekatz' awful ZX-powered Trans-Am. It can not and will not be tolerated." Boies-Olson vowed that Capitol Offense would continue as planned, and asked the public to register now in support.
