Was going to post this to garner more support for the Lets Get Angela Savage To Indy 2014 Facebook page but I see IRL already got wind for it and made it happen. . . Angela Savage Is Going to Indy!

Swede's wife was still pregnant with Angela the day of what has been considered the most spectacular single-car accident in the history of the Indianapolis Motor Speedway.

After witnessing the accident and Swede's passing 33 days later due to contaminated plasma, his wife Sheryl never brought the family back to Indy again.

This past fall, a family friend, Paul Powell, started a grassroots fund raising event in an effort to bring Angela, her husband and her two young boys to Indy which eventually led to involvement of Miles Ahead Driving School and even Doug Boles himself.

Powell states, "Angela could hardly talk about what it would mean to her to finally be at IMS. Whenever I brought the subject up, she would always start crying again. The idea of going to the place that her father loved, and where he lost his life, is a very emotional thing for her. All I can say is that this effort means everything to her, and Doug Boles and Miles Ahead and all the fans that made donations to the cause, have truly made a dream come true for Angela Savage."

Hope they make a little story of it during the broadcast. I think he ran F5000 also.

I was like, 3 years old when he died, but remembered his name always coming up, just like Jim Clark. My dad had a large library of racing books. Everything from driving techniques to bio's and autobio's and books about races and tracks. I remember seeing pictures of the crash. I won't even get into describing the scene but it was so horrific. Google it for yourself. I couldn't believe after seeing the pictures of the crash, he was joking with the rescue crew and was expected to make a full recovery until the liver failure from contaminated plasma. Just read that another tragedy of that day was a teammates crew member jumped the wall to run up and try to pull Swede from the wreckage and was run down by an approaching firetruck.
