Recently, the Central Florida Region SCCA Board of Governors voted 5-4 to replace incumbent Regional Executive Rick Balderson with Chuck Dawson. All that these 5 members accomplished was to remove one of the most respected and knowledgeable RE's for someone who has no clue on what it takes to be in such a poaition. Instead of working for what is best for CFR and SCCA, these 5 Governors allowed their petty prejudices and egos reign over common sense and logic.
All this does is weaken our Region in it's ability to function at the highest level we have attained over the years under Rick's leadership. I was asked if I would continue as Assistant Regional Executive and decided I could not. I was once told that a "spoke the company line"....well, the company line has changed and I and I can't be part of it!

Been there, done that, was on the board when it happened.
Now I just try to have fun.
is there anything preventing you from starting a new chapter without the bad people?

Ronald, it looks like you have a great campaign platform for CFR's next election. Get some different people on the Board (who agree with you) and things will change in the direction(s) you want.
Club politics really suck, but they are good example of what happens at the local, state and federal levels, too.
Now multiply it by eleventy billion and you have the federal govt.

The board is elected by the membership. If your bylaws allow an RE to be removed based on a simple majority vote of the board, then I fail to see the issue. A majority of the duley elected board felt it was in the best interest of the club to envoke their power to remove the RE. It sucks when drama happens, but presumably there is another side to the story.
