That was pretty good. I remember her turning back to the mannequin on the motorcycle. just don't remember what model edit: gotta love google: http://movieclips.com/Rz3s-mannequin-movie-a-motorcycle-and-a-mannequin/ How about Splash?

I'd call Splash a fine piece of cinema. Look at the ensemble cast: Tom Hanks, Daryl Hannah, John Candy and Eugene Levy. To totally score a slam dunk, someone should have cast Dabney Coleman as something.

By the way, I just noticed that Ron Howard directed it. Wow.

Also, Splash takes place in New York City which, as we all know, is the greatest city in the universe.

Lot's of good movies here. The Princess Bride is one of my all-time favorites. I recently bought a copy of it to share with my kids. I really liked "Big" also.

Oh, and The Sound of Music flat-out kicks a$$!

I watch Big every time its on tv. As to "The Sound of Music", I may have to try it again someday. I watched it (or listened to it from my bedroom) with my Mom every time it was on TV between 1965 and 1978. I'll betcha I could sing along with the whole damn movie, even though I hated it...

Yep... I saw it on HBO in like 1988... Semi trucks that come alive are the coolest thing to an 8 year old. Then I bought it on DVD in like 2002. Some things should just stay as nostalgia...

White Christmas. I end up watching it a half dozen times every winter

That was a recent Netflix stream for me. I've, thankfully, blocked everything but the title from my mind. There was another bad one about zombies on a porno set. It failed on every level possible.

One I wished I remembered the title for followed a small town video clerk during the ZA. He, of course, knew everything about zombies. The zombies were afraid of the dark for some reason. Bad FX and bad acting but pretty funny.

And, just to weigh in on The Princess Bride, whoever doesn't like some part of that movie, has no soul. Quotes from that movie should be used to ID friendlies in the next world war...like the World Series was used in WWII.

Rodents of unusual size? I don't think they exist.

Seriously, how can anyone not like something featuring Peter Falk?

The Back Up Plan.

If anyone has ever had children, all the jokes make perfect sense.

The water birthing scene makes me laugh out loud every time.

EDIT Also, I watched twister millions of times as a kid. I loved it. Later on I kinda caught on to how far fetched it really was. That's the only Phillip Seymour Hoffman character I've ever liked.

There is one scene in that film that any car guy loves:

(von Trapp family flees by car. Nazi soldiers jump into truck to pursue them. Camera cuts to two nuns in the foreground. Nazi truck is still visible in background.)

"mother superior? I have sinned"

(As nun talks, Nazi truck in background cranks repeatedly but cannot start)

"my child what is this sin?"

(nun reveals distributor she stole from truck.)

Hey, that's a great film! If someone gives you a "mixed reaction" about it, you have good reason to treat everything else they say as suspect too.

I think you are getting mixed reactions because people are so dumb they think you said "the princess diaries"
the princess bride is one of the ten best comedies ever made. I'll stand by that statement.
It's up there with Airplane.

I'm glad to see other people here are fans of The Princess Bride. It's one of those movies that I'll go see in a theater if I ever get a chance, even though I've seen it a million times.

I have another to add to my list. Vanilla Sky. I mean, it used to be my screen name here until I watched the movie a couple years back and realized how bad it was.

I'm a sucker for musicals, but I can not watch Sound of Music in one shot. Seven Brides for Seven Brothers, A Funny Thing Happened on the Way to the Forum, sing a long, non stop.

Be fair now. The 1st one is good but it is much darker than Dead by Dawn and Army of Darkness. I can see people being disappointed in Evil Dead if they saw the slapstick horror in ED II first.
