For the last month or so, I have driven past an old car for sale on the side of the road. Total barn find. Or field find, maybe? Anyway, it's old, I'd say early 1950's. It's a pretty big 4-door sedan. In Craigslist speak, it has "some surface rust." To me, it looks like Doc Hudson, but I have a visual handicap, so I may be way off base. The grille is fairly ornate and has what looks to me like two H's stacked one atop the other. A brief search of old car insignia didn't get me a match. The Hudson insignia apparently doesn't look like that.
So what is it? I'll try to drive by it later today and take a pic. Stay tuned!

So it's up to 50% covered in light to thick surface rust. If it were 50~100% covered in thick surface rust, in Craigslist speak that would be "rich patina"
Was it a Hamlin-Holmes?
Edit: Or were you talking about the design of the grille rather than an emblem on the grille?
Uneducated guess; there appear to be a fair number of variations with similar but distinct grilles; this is nominally a 1952 Pontiac Chieftain.
Its not 2 R's stacked on each other? That would be Rolls Royce
In reply to Antihero :
It definitely does not look Rolls-ey to me.
In reply to GameboyRMH :
The grille is a fairly typical bottom-heavy chrome affair. The insignia looks like two H's, but not like Hamlin Holmes. It's chrome, and centered high in the grille.
Honestly, the frowny face look of the grille and the general shape of the car screams Hudson to me, but I'm not quite seeing it in pics of the Hudson.
Hudson made a Hornet. Maybe that's the 2 Hs?

Exactly what I was thinking, but I can't find a picture to back it up.

Their high-performance package on their engine was also Twin-H Power.

Logo almost sounds like an IH, but as far as I know the closest they ever got to a sedan was the Travelall

Thats apparently the logo for that
A picture, it has been said, is worth a thousand words. With that, I will say no more. Remember that I'm flying past this thing at 60 mph, so what I thought was two H's was not much like 2 H's. The actual insignia is above that little feature on the grille.
There is no writing on the "sign" in the windshield. I'm thinking it might be yard art. Inspection sticker on the window is from North Carolina. I think it said 1962. Presumably, it's been inoperable since then.

That looks Lincoln-ish to me, somewhere around 1950.
Yes, it's a Lincoln. I'm thinking First Gen (1949-51) Cosmopolitan, but I didn't see any badging on the car. The driver's window was down and the first clue I had that it was a Lincoln was the script on the center of the steering wheel.

The headlights were the tell.
Here's a look at the lovely vintage patina on the trunk.
And a closeup of that distinctive grille.
