Lost power for up to 2 weeks, huge trees uprooted, damage everywhere, but nobody hurt at least.
None of my cars were hurt and the houses have some superficial damage but nothing really bad.

Mongo is up and the gen is now supplying power for our house, Mongo rules.
I will post pics when I can upload them.
Here in Ohio too. It hit about 30 minutes before I left work and knocked out the power. It took forever to get home because most of the roads were blocked by fallen trees. I drove on tree limbs part of the way home.
Glad things were't worse for you, Steve. And all hail Mongo!!!
I was at work, and heard Findlay got hit hard. Something like 8 semis overturned from the wimd.
Got home to BG, and... Nothing.
Hope you get power back soon, and glad for no injuries.

I heard about the storms on the news this morning. The cars were a bit wet here, but it seems to have gone south of me.
Good to hear you had minimal damage. I think I heard ay least one person was killed when a tree fell on her house while she was in bed.
We got hit hard last night. They claim 90mph winds.

Our friend is at 19 hours and no power. We got off lucky with only 8 hours. Thrashed my tomatoes and grape vines and if that is the worst of it we are blessed.

Glad you're OK.
I know how you feel....we went without power for a few weeks after the hurricanes in 2005. Try to find out where ice and water deliveries are in your area. (Here, local groceries shipped in loads of ice and gave it away so people could keep their refrigerators cool. Anheuser Busch bottled water instead of beer and their distributors brought it in and gave it away.) Water, gasoline and propane are the big three you need right now.
If you run low on propane for the grill, Canned food and MREs are good. (They're actually my first choice....I won't fire up the grill unless the power is out long enough that the freezer is thawing.)
If power is out for more than a day or so, DON'T DRINK THE WATER!!! If your water treatment plant doesn't have power, you don't know what kind of bacteria could be in your water. Around here, most people keep some bottled water around in case of hurricanes, and those who don't will be running to buy it when weather is approaching. At those times, there may be shortages of bottled water. If so, buy soda for hydration and save what little bottled water you have for cooking.
Around here, we took care of bathing by heading to the lake with biodegradable soap (camping supplies).
If you have a generator, run it OUTSIDE so there are no issues from carbon monoxide. Chain it down so it takes time to steal. There are enough unchained ones that thieves will probably pass you by.
If you can still get gasoline, do it now. It will become precious as everyone tries to keep their generators running.
If you have solar lights along the sidewalk or patio, put them out to charge during the day and bring them in at night to illuminate the house.
If you have screen doors and screens on your windows to keep the bugs out, open the normal doors and windows at night so you can let the cooler air in, then close them before the day heats up.
That storm came barreling through like a freight train last night here outside of AC. Most of south jersey is out of power and they are saying end of the week till I get it back.
No damage to my place.. but all around me looks like a bomb went off. Good thing I don't use ac or I would really be suffering like my neighbors are
We got hit on Friday as well. Lots of branches down in the back yard, a couple of 6 to 8 inch ones out of our oak but that is it.
Ausse, hope your power is back sometime soon.

It's attached to mongo! The average Joe can't even drive mongo much less steal it!
Glad to hear you guys are ok!
oh and all hail mongo!
We made out pretty well overall lost power about 12 times the night of the storm but has been on since , this is not the norm as with most storms we lose power for at least four days. All around us power is hit and miss some people have it and others do not , and a number of roads are still closed.
I just got done cutting up a tree that fell due to the storm (20' tall) but other than that not too bad.
Good luck to everyone that was in the path.

HAIL MONGO!!! WE'RE NOT WORTHY!!! Sorry Steve. Hang in there. It's all that bragging about "Oh you blokes don't know about hot!!! Crikey, it hits 300 degrees in Australia" which angered the invisible wizard in the sky. Jokes. Hope you guys are okay.
The DC area got hit hard. A few hundred thousand people without power with temps in the triple digits.
Thankfully, I have power. Just no internet at home. (viva la starbucks wifi)

That was some storm. I was in New Haven, WV visiting my grandmother-in-law when it hit. Power is still out down there. We waited until the roads were clear and drove back to my in-laws house where the power is back on. Gas is still hard to come by so right now it may be interesting to get back to MN. So far the water supply is ok here (Parkersburg, WV). Lots of trees down and still lots of parts of the city without power.
The storm sounded like a freight train coming. Not too much rain, but lots and lots of wind. Lots of trees down all over. Passed a gas station in Coolville, OH yesterday where the line for gas was over a mile long. Some folks waited for 7 hours to get gas.
Good grief. Glad you're ok Steve!
Today I learned that such storms actually have a name.

Glad to hear everyone's OK. Hoping none of you lost anything important, and that things get back to normal soon.
Working on our area one town at a time, thry haven't even started on ours. No power soon.
Making the most of the situation our family is pulling together and Mongo still rules.

Damn. Where are the news crews and celebrities screaming that it's all Joe Bush's fault? Aside: All my peeps are from Parkersburg mang! Division St represent!
Still finding trucks on their side and trees down everywhere. This one had some bite to it.

We were without grid power for about 2-1/2 days. Our $350 5kW Craigslist generator saved us again. Hooked up Saturday morning, ran coffee pot, toaster, fridge. Went to Home Depot and got a 9k btu in-room AC unit and a big 2-circuit cord w/ a NEMA L14-30 plug.
Ran power to the FiOS box, the TV, AC, and a couple bedside table lights, and life was nearly normal. The rest of the house got close to 90 degrees, but the master bedroom is a newer extension and we held 78 degrees.
Aside from not being able to run the 3 phase machines or welders - I lost a weekend I'd been promised to put in unlimited hours on the race car - it wasn't bad.
It missed us, we need rain like nobody's business around here. It got hairy on the northside of Indy, but mainly wind. All the rain was up north. Couple of guys I know, one in Fort Wayne, the other in OH are still without power. Another guy I know drove through it going down 69 from MI to Indy.
Went through that storm somewhere between Columbus and Findaly, worst rain I've ever driven in. Home in VA got hit by mainly wind, but large sections of WV on the way home had no power, no phone lines and no fuel. Thankfully we had just enough to get to where there was fuel, at Tamarack. They had a $30 limit, but it was more than enough. Everyone that we saw in the parking lot headed west was advised to get fuel then, as it would be central OH before they saw any more. Glad that everyone is okay.

We got one of those here in Iowa just about about a year ago-- sustained 110-130 mph wind in our area. Scary sounding wind as we sheltered in the basement, especially after one of the garage doors blew in.
We got off light, with the garage damage, soffit, roof and fascia damaged, along with trees. Did find that the sill plates in the garage all moved out to the limits of the anchors, in some places as much as a 1/4" as the garage inflated like a balloon.
Folks in town, where 75% of the trees were destroyed, with most dropped on houses got the brunt of it. Due to damage to both the distribution lines and individual services, many didn't get power back for nearly three weeks.
The upside, with the garage door and tracks damaged, had high lift tracks and a wall mounted opener put in that bay, allowing for the installation of a four post lift later in the year.
Day 4 with no power. This is getting old quickly
Hope you guys re doing OK. I had 9 days with no power 2 days after I bought my house in CT. Thanks freak october storm alfred...
So... I feel for you guys. All I can say is... Honda genny's rule all others drool.
