I just picked up a Birkin myself in November.
GRM forum user Thinkkker locally picked up a Birkin???? (a Lotus 7 replica made in South Africa) in early April 2018.
The car was set up as an autocrosser, and the plan was to keep it that way while also making some adjustments to improve the quality of life for the driver.
All was going well until a piston disappeared in March of last year. The head took most of the damage, but thankfully it was repairable.
What's happened since then? Thinkkker has modified the oil pan, constructed a new passenger-friendly roll bar and crafted some dry-sump oil lines.

Car had a Zetec in it when I got it. I figured that, "It's got it in there, they make good torque for the 2.0 which is class limited size, so stick with it!"
Then, I spent.......6 months or more getting parts in for just the head. Given that the new cams would make power to at least 8000 rpm and the engines have some history of blowing up from the factory oil pump. I opened more of a can of worms with the dry sump....
