The first step in any engine pull is to remove whatever is in the way. Once the radiator is out, there's room ahead of the engine to fit body parts in.

Before our bipedal friends stopped by, Akiko Jones offered a paw to help.

With the help of Rob Piety, Sir Thomas Heath and Greg Voth, we got the sucker out. Soon we'll begin teardown.

Since our last track day ended in what sounded like bad news inside the engine, we’re pulling it out for a diagnosis and repair.

We pulled off the accessories and other bits in the way, loosened the bell housing and motor mount bolts, and called a few friends over. What’s a better activity for knocking back a few cold ones?

As a Subaru-addict who has done this many, many times, you sure made it hard on yourselves by not taking the trans out with it. Good job though boys, none the less.
