NMNA:
Needs to be looked at...

I occasionally peek at the ads for 6 series BMWs and that's the most solid looking one I've seen in a long time. I'm not sure, but I think that all 633s were gray market. Good for him, disclosing the shock tower rust.
In reply to JFX001: Yes, someone definitely needs to go check it out. If it were near me I would. I looked at the engine compartment pic, and saw hints of rust, but nothing fatal looking.

I agree. Red doesn't work on big cars.
As its 'only' a 633 not a 635csi or M6 then I sag send it to daily classics for an LSx swap and drive the E36 M3 out of it assuming its not rusty.
In reply to Adrian_Thompson:
Might as well keep the M30 under the hood......it'll run past the Apocalypse.

Fair point, can my imagination add a magic snail of awesome on the side then?
I see a couple of thousand in parts in that car - except my inclination would be patch up the shock towers.
Is it the front shock towers that are rust prone? I am no expert, don't think I have even sat in one, but I have some camber plates, a plasma cutter and a mig welder! I can fix that, if that is all it is, I always liked the look of these!
rear towers are historically vulnerable to rust on bmw coupes. Not that hard of a fix. Usually it's rust everywhere else that kills them. The engines are very tough as long as the oiler in the head doesn't get clogged or moved.
Are those Euro bumpers? If so, it might be worth it to have those parts to convert a US-bumper car to the Euro look, even if the body is completely rotten. Plus the parts to convert to stick shift if needed.
E24's have really gotten my attention lately, particularly since around here rust is the exception and not the rule. Replacing my reliable mid-90's E36 daily with one probably isn't a smart idea, but I am thinking about doing it all the same.
anyone near Columbus to put eyes on it? Only concern is there's only one oil line I can think of in an m30 besides an oil cooler line. Broken line to the head is one of the few things that will kill that engine. I like the line "pretty sure it will run with a repaired oil line." I'm thinking that's along the lines of "just needs a battery." in craigspeak. An Oil cooler line is a $20 fix that would add $1000 in value between a running and non-running car.
to SEADave - yes, those are euro bumpers. Those are spendy bits

and that's why one of my buddies is headed there with his trailer this weekend.
early E24 is E12 underneath, so some bits of this car will certainly end up on Ursula
