Neat!  What are the hose sizes and the acceptable temperature ranges?  That'd be sweet for an air/water intercooler setup, or the idea I've had for an air/water heat exchanger for a coolant/oil oil cooler.  I'm assuming that being from a Prius that they are practically immortal.

A new idea: bump stops. VW Golf/Jetta 2000-2005ish.

These may not exactly be on the shelf at every single local flaps, but these are really cheap and come in a variety of lengths (in fact, I bet that VW 'tuned' their suspension for the golf/jetta sedan/jetta wagon/sport versions using different lenghts of bumpstops). And should fit on most shock shafts.

Considering cutting springs is a common practice for cheap speed, consider getting a good bumpstop in there to keep your tires on the ground when you invariably bottom the shock.

FYI I just looked into these and the super long rear ones seem like 12mm ID, while the short fronts are 22mm.

Being a foamy type of rubbery material, use a little silicone grease and they can be forced over a strut shaft.  Maybe need to soak in near boiling water for a couple minutes first.

Also, while it does seem like a way to save time, don't put the part IN the water when you heat the water in the microwave.  Heat water first, then give it its sauna bath, unless you like melting things.

And that's how I had to go to my service manager and have him order a second steering rack boot for a car I was working on.

I happen to have some of the short front ones on hand... they are the 54mm long ones.

they measure 18mm diameter hole and they felt like they fit very well on my almost 20mm shock shafts. They are snug and hold themselves at the top naturally.

can't comment on the longer ones!
