Planning for 2021

Okay, it's been a couple of days since the challenge has finished.  What's in the plans for next year? 

I'm thinking, I could bring the Impala back if it stays under budget, but would rather not.  Hoping Curtis73, wae, or Jerry enter and I can tag along with them.  Failing that, I'm tempted to go with this year's original plan - get a cheap, light car, gut it, and throw nitrous and tires at it.  I also realized, if I am willing to take the $400 or so recoup hit, I have a zero budget 305/700R4 that is coming out of my S10 at some point.  Maybe I should look for a TPI C4 with a blown transmission, and show up with a vettekart.

Provided the country isn't still a steaming cesspool next fall we'll be there but the plan is secret and there will be no build threading

Tod, Ted and I bought an uncompleted challenge car from another competitor today.

Its a secret until we decide to let the cat out of the bag...

My buddy Brad and his son (who co-drove the forester) bought a running 2001 flood damaged mr2 spyder for $825 this morning.

I talked to Dave, who normally comes with me, and we are planning on bringing back the trailerparkcet for another go at a podium finish.

2021 will be a good year...

We are bringing a car with a body to slaughter all the karts!

I'm going to stare out the window until my Escort magically fixes itself!

Or maybe I'll stare out the window until it RWD swaps itself.

Oooooooorrrrrrrrrrrrrrr maybe I'll do something to try to actually fix it. Maybe.

After finally making it to a challenge I realized I really need to step my game up. The plan is to recoup every single nut and bolt possible so I can afford a turbo and a rollcage, and then invest in the ol' purple crack. I'm going to spend the next year squeezing all I can out of my little crap box and tweaking the suspension and paint. 

My brother just bought a cheap crappy Miata. I have a free set of well-used Hoosier SM7s.

I bet we could stick a turbo on it and (probably blow up the tired engine) for under challenge budget.

More likely he will just bring it mostly as-is and compete for slowest drag time.

I really hope I can be there in person.

Was conversation had about special class ?

I thought about it quite a bit on the drive home and I am actually considering something that I never before thought possible... doing what everyone else does!

I've never going to actually win anything, but I just might actually try to make a showing of some sort.

I'm bringing the LMP360.  The goal is to finish and do reasonably well.   Except for drag racing.  I'm spending all my power $$ on chassis steel.

919 looks more like a car than many other "vehicles" so sounds good to me. Admittedly, I had to Google lmp360 to even know what that one is! Mostly recognizable as a car type thing and possibly pretty cool...

Yes, I count reading build threads amongst the things that other people often do and I have never really done much of, yet.

I technically have 2 challenge cars in my yard already. Maybe I'll bring both next year

Planning to bring f-dat back with less bouncy.

Also may go for full aero treatment to compliment LMP360

Hopefully the need for masks is gone away by next year, and I can tag along on a team, or help as / where I can. I have several options for lower end of the pack cars, but as barefoot found, that's a TON of fun as well. Hard to say right now.

My mind has been churning with ideas for that car.  When you get a chance check that email I sent you, I'd love to talk about some of the design stuff for it.

Will Radwood still be a thing, or has that run its course? I could possibly do an Astro van... but that may be a horrible plan

I like to pretend ill have a car. I probably will not have a car. Unless I have a car. 

I have been debating for some time the ultimate last chance car. Buy one Thursday, sight unseen, pick it up on the way to the hotel. Figure it out from there..

I have also consideres a build based around an interpretation of some rules that will get me most likely thrown out, and maybe even a "don't do that E36 M3 again" rule in print. That amuses me even more. 

The truth of the matter is, I'm a terrible builder, have no fabrication skills that I am aware of, and am awful at bargaining. So I'll likely never be a contender unless it falls in my lap. But I do tend to get very creative with rulesets.....

I hope to bring out D2D after a crack at Rocky Mtn Drag Week just a few weeks prior to the challenge, hopefully.

Time will tell.

F-Dat had/has an 'ace in the hole' a bit like that. but we didn't use it. At the last minute we decided that it would run afoul of our own internal 'don't be a dick' rule, even though we almost certainly would have been faster (maybe by a lot) in the autox and likely in the drags as well.

Yes, I quickly looked through it but agree we should chat more. Give me a few days to mull and I'll respond.
