Seems to be a lot of interest in these on here so I figured I'd post it up.
As a selfish ploy, I have a 20R head that I believe will bolt on to this 22RE block with good results if you want to swap over to a carb.

Quote: " '84 Cellica GT-S. Its an '84 model year and it has its bumps and bruises. Good set of tires including the spare. New windshield in February of '12. It has a blown head gasket, or warped head or something else. Put water in the radiator and it goes straight to the oil pan. Will have to be towed or hauled. It will crank and run for a few minutes but turn it off so it wont overheat. It has been sitting for about 10 months and I don't have the money or really know what I'm doing to fix it. So $1,000. firm and its yours."
I'm starting to really, really want one of these.

Probably the timing cover corroded through if the coolant goes straight into the oil but it has compression enough to run well.
And it's a notchback! DEEPLY WANT

Certainly possible.
I bought my '85 with a blown headgasket. Car ran but overheated and mixed oil/water. Replaced the gasket and bolted the head back on. Since that, I've put over 10k miles on it without touching anything else in the engine and it's going strong.
We have an '85 GTS vert sitting in my sisters driveway with a blown gasket. It hasn't been touched in years though. It's really tempting but I'm terrified what else I find as I tear into it.
Talk to me about rust, original paint, cigarette smoke inside and your willingness to work with a guy who ships cars...
