2850ish with full fuel, spares, tools, etc.
But I've never made any real attempt at weight reduction, because don't care that much lol. Budget doesn't support doing an aluminum block engine, and no interest in gutting everything. Hell, I have a small aluminum skidplate sitting here for rally-x and I don't even bother putting that one on, I just run with my heavy steel one :) I don't mind being a tank, my days of thinking I'll be competitive are long over., now it's just for fun.
Next up:
Differential. the limited slip factor really.
I have run through a few rebuilds on the LSD unit in my 4.10 BMW diff(ZF lsd unit from factory) using Whats know as Racing diffs online rebuild kits. From the lovely former eastern block. Some people seem to have good luck with them. Others do not. and ive come to think that i am the latter. The latest iteration I put in because i am having a issue where the initial breakaway of the diff is great. 100+ftlbs. but yet, when it comes to actual acceleration and lets say a simple doughnut/hairpin. All i get is open diff tendencies. One wheel peel and no forward motion. It was like this before last year. and now during last year with this kit. Immediately noticeable on Pavement. But i would assume that I am loosing traction i desire on gravel constantly.
Simply Breakway lock up is great but it seems to do nothing after breakaway.
Here are some of the plates:
Smooth as glass and the friction material they design and manufacture is gone.
Interesting wear marks of only the outside and inside ring? also extremely smooth
Only and Outside ring wear mark. Some of the material is still present inside.
I am curious if these are just not very straight in machining. or that the friction material is just not very good. Possibly just wears out almost immediately?

Overall its been confusing trying to get it to work as intended. My current plan is to get as much internal shims, spring washers, and plates as i can as OEM stock supplier. I am running a 3 plate uneven setup as alot of people do. Possibly getting the Pressure ring surfaced although it looks very smooth.
If it continues to not be enough with new OEM plates and the more preload then there is the option of more aggressive ramps. Although there is not really a good budget option for this. Only one coming from the afro mentioned company that I am currently shaky with.
This is the same unit that is in alot of old porsche's so I will be researching what they do also for more reference. Any insight on what i could be missing here would be excellent.

We have been filling time as we gathered parts for the new wiring by fixing the surprisingly rusty tow rig.
A decent job. Hopefully this rig will last a few more years before needing something else. its a great adventure camper also when need be.
Spent some time cleaning up the rear shocks. Some tire rubbing has long since destroyed the helper spring isolators. And it seems we have slightly mushroomed the rear mounts. bearings are still good so we may just have to keep these in until they are really bad.
Next up is actually building the new harness! Very excited to see how it comes out!
I was also able to take a side adventure to attend one rally this year, STPR in PA. Co-driving for friend and rival Dylan Gondyke in his impreza RS.
Always fun to ride right seat. especially in a similarly fast but very different car. We won the rally and our class! No issues besides ripping the wires on my comms and having to yell 2 stages. Hand signals and yelling worked well. Tons of rain the second day but with a decent lead from the first day we cusised home safe in first. STPR is always a great time.
Lots of other notables and GRM regulars taking home trophies also.

Wiring begins!
As in a previous post we are totally redoing the chassis harness for the car. everything from headlights/taillights to windows and wipers. The stock wiring harness has failed me multiple times over the years and it is time to start fresh. Milspec wiring, with duech connectors where possible. Obviously reduce wires and features to my friend Ben's patented "the 14 basic electrical functions of a car"
This will also place fuses and relays inside the car safe from water and dust. as well as give us access to them while strapped in.

one section completely done. Tail lights. I am being taught proper working techniques as much as we are actually doing on this project
We are also making some changes to the engine harness to change over to drive by wire. This will give me a bit more modern ECU and tuning but still OEM. Overall simpler with just a few more wires.
The OEM fuse and relay organization for the engine loop just doesnt work in this chassis.
Overall it didn't look like we got alot done but nearly all the planning and familiarization with the project was done that weekend. Hopefully another 2 day stint will get it totally laid out and i can pin/wrap everything at my leisure.
Smaller things update.
Appears the ball joint failure at the last race DID have a negative effect on the shock insert of that side. So we will have to get th\his one sent out to be fixed. I decided to send out the rears to get external reservoirs so just another thing to do.
Only other thing we have accomplished is a full rebuild and shine up of the brake calipers.

After that we have not done any updates besides purchasing some items for later. Becoming a new Dad really has kept us away from the car. Rightly SO!
More to come before the new year though.
Funny how kids eat into doing stuff :) I'm lucky that my garage/shop is right outside my family room door (so I could watch the kids and work on the car simultaneously at least).
Quick little project to clean up the ancient Hella buckets and housings :
Just crusty from Rally dirt and some surface rust. All of the adjusters were busted also.

The actual lenses were of various condition. but i felt 3/4 were in very nice condition to continue using.
With some help we located some reproduction 3d Printed adjusters. Come with brass insert also so better than OEM. You can see i have some Amazon LED H1 and H4 bulbs instead of old halogen.
I was looking for something totally different that would fit the e30 headlight spaces. but i could not find much that was around 5.75"(stock) size and be worth the money. I will need another Inner/highbeam lense however as the glass was totally separated and the reflective material was super peeling. 60$ and call it a day to replace that. money would be better spent on more and better light bars. Having a very basic standard road lights can be beneficial in snow, fog, and dust anyways.
Check off another easy at home project.
Got a link to those adjusters? (obviously) mine are pretty much no good at this point either.

And yeah ill DM you the adjusters 30$ for 8 is a steal.
Weekend update!
Another big weekend for wiring progress. All circuits and power leads are now setup. remaining harnesses are paired down to only what is needed.

Next visit we will get crimping and finalizing. Get all the circuits tested so it can be properly loomed and wrapped.
Also spend some time repairing some floor holes. In an effort to mount the E-Pedal for ms43 engine management.
Working on finishing up some at home projects including the diff and engine harness cleanup. all to be ready for next time and then we get reassembling!
