Friday and Saturday were consumed by retrieving AK1 from school. The towers of the Mackinac Bridge were obscured by fog, totally invisible until almost right up to them.
Hard to believe that's the approach to a big-ass suspension bridge, but I assure you it is.
Today was not my most productive day, IDK why but my brain stopped being effective at about 2PM. I kept at it til 11PM but didn't get a whole lot done.
Fuel lines are not my best work, but they're mostly done. Just a couple bends in the frunk and a couple hose clamps and I can dump a gallon in the tank and check for leaks.
berkeley, I'm tired.
Not to tired to have a sense of humor in the last pic! Glad to see it and eagerly awaiting the first start.

Heading to Gainesville in 28 days.
!!! For real? You got this!
I will be there at the challenge Hotel Friday morning bright and early to help you finish this one angry
i definitely feel the love!
The "Start" checklist is complete. As is about 1/3 of "Run" and 1/4 of "Drive". I forgot to check off "WTF Steering column upper", I found the missing piece on top of the blast cabinet, which makes no sense as the missing piece is plastic.
so, why didn't she start?
well, I didn't have the laptop plugged in so I don't know exactly what was going on. She cranked a little slow, and there was a definite spot once per rev where cranking speed dropped further. Battery charger was not hooked up either.
but there's still good news / progress to report. I finished cutting and clamping the fuel hoses, so I put 2 gallons of 93 in the tank and turned the key to pressurize the fuel system and check for leaks. Hooray, no leaks!
The other day I remembered, after welding a few nuts to the floor, that the PCM was still plugged in. I hope I didn't cook anything in there. Battery was disconnected, if that matters, but I suspect it does not.
I'll take another stab at it tomorrow after work, this time with more battery charger and more laptop. And yes Duster, probably a shot of ether for good measure.

Not just this group, random strangers seem to be generous with that support whenever he's around!

The night before we were going to tech our LeMons GTI we burned the last bit of cage in only to find out later that the thing would not start to get on the trailer. Yup, someone plugged in the ECU prior to the last welds. We did not DNF, we DNS.
Hope yours is good.
Is ECM death by welding only a problem on non stock vehicles? I have never thought to unplug one.
In reply to preach (dudeist priest) :
If it isn't, I still have 3 on the shelf, including the original from the C4 donor. I'll hit it with more volts and some ether tonight and see what happens.
Fingers crossed it starts on a fresh battery and an ether shot!
Finally you're listening to me and breaking out the motherberkeleying ether
In reply to Dusterbd13-michael :
Surely that sound is dubbed in..?
[That is AWESOME!!!]
In reply to AAZCD-Jon (Forum Supporter) :
No dubs my brother...
In reply to cdowd (Forum Supporter) :
Thanks man! I'm pretty stoked right about now!
Good God that sounds glorious.
However, theres no ether in sight and that makes me sad....

Who does the first start in their Socks? Angry, that's who!
Well done & Congrats. You're dangerously close to finishing before the Challenge THIS year!
Minor confession: that was actually the third attempt. The first two had a massive vacuum leak because I forgot to put one of the port plugs in. I also forgot to record them. ;-)
Yes battery charger, no ether.
I hope it doesn't lose the mild lope at idle as I get the fueling and timing dialed in.
shoes are overrated.
In reply to Indy - Guy :
I'll be there this year for sure. Probably 100% untested, but im doing my best to get it together ASAP.
