How hard would it be to write up those gauges and turn signals?

Showed it to a coworker.

I'm wondering how much weight it gained or lost with this swap. Very quick 'net checks makes me believe it lost 50lbs or so.

In reply to markwemple:

I happen to agree with you. A SBC while a decent engine has no soul and looks ugly.. Oh sure you can buy aluminum parts and fix it up but it's still a SBC about as interesting as a belly button.. Jaguars with a SBC are called lumps and treated accordingly to those of us in the know..

The flaws in those early Jaguars were typically caused by wiring issues and thus likely to remain once the Chevy lump was jammed in. That plus the instrument panel will be butchered to fit a V8 Tach, the speedometer is likely not to be accurate due to a different transmission, other gauges can be converted to work but require gauges a lot of source checking due to technical differences.

If you spend what the conversion cost in time and money you can make either the Old 6 cylinder or the V12 at least as powerful and reliable..

The car is still available! No matter how you feel about the swap, it does get attention for the right reasons and drive certain 'purist' crazy (if that's what you are going for).

CL flakeouts, and an eBay no pay has provided you (or a friend) with an awesome opportunity for you to roll up to a stop sign on your local boulevard and ask of the person next to you, 'Pardon me, do you have any Grey Poupon?' with complete confidence.

Grab you MP3-ripped album of 'Play it Again, Rod' (Stewart) and pump it up as you cruise to the season-ending showing of 'Scarface' at the only local drive in.

Or park it in front of the house to show to the 'Jones' that you have arrived.

While the car may make a long journey to its new home, it may be better to ship or to 'take it easy' on the drive back.

PRICING IS NEGOTIABLE for GRM'ers, It runs great, needs a new home, and I would like to reclaim a bit of the driveway back! Email mkiisupra@hotmail.com.
