Selling my challenge civic with lots of spares and tools because I'm moving across the country. I love this little car, it handles fantastically well and it's a civic, so parts are laughably cheap, it gets 40mpg, and it'll run forever.

Details:  located in Sebring FL 1995 Civic EX, 5 spd, gutted interior, racing seat with an inexpensive cover on it because the old one was torn up, harness bar with a Crow 5 point harness, needs two mounting points welded in. Painted in the Gulf blue/orange paint scheme, looks good from about 10 feet. A bit of rust above the rear wheel wells, but comes with the repair panels to weld in. More stuff:

short throw shifter, intake, header, side exit exhaust, Integra rear sway bar added, bilstein shocks, H&R springs, adjustable rear camber arms, new rear lower control arms, 15x6.5 Konig Heliums (11lbs each) with 225/45R15 Federal 595RS-RR (insane amounts of grip), also includes a spare set of 15x6 LS meshes that I was going to use for full slicks or purple crack, new battery and battery tie down, also comes with an oil catch can, two rhino car ramps, two car jack stands and a hydraulic floor jack, and a welder with a helmet and gloves. Also some leftover paint to touch it up.
It's listed at $1800 on Facebook so I'm offering it for $1500 here for the entire pile of stuff. I would prefer not to separate it but I'll gladly write it up as $700 for the parts and $800 for the car or whatever you want for the challenge. I just want to see this car on a track!

This would be a great starting point for a Lemons car.  It's close enough to the budget range I bet the judges wouldn't give anyone grief.

I’d be your man if Florida weren't so darn far from Detroit :P That’s a great start for cheap race car things.

If there were someone down there who could park it in a corner until challenge time.....

There's a good number of GRMers over in Tampa, roughly 1.5 hours away. Might be worth looking up one of them

What do you know about the engine, is it stock, how many miles, is the car drivable ?

Dothan AL is still a long way away from there, but I have the room, and the interest, but no money! It would also make a good excuse for me to get to the challenge this year!!! Don't have indoor room, but carport/car cover is no problem.

If we can keep tags and insurance on it, I could drive it to work from time to time, so it can get its "exercise" smiley

I believe its still in Sebring Florida...

If you are not following infinitenexus' story on another thread, you maybe should be.

Someone needs to pick up this car and help him and his wife and soon to be arrived son get out of a deep hole and move forward with their lives.

Maybe a GRM reader can  grab it, and later invite infinitenexus to it's coming out party.

infinitenexus: tell us if it has a title, etc.

Internals are stock, 262k miles, runs great and starts right up. Only mods are bolt ons, intake header and side exit exhaust

Sorry guys, I was away for a bit. The car has a lot of miles but runs great. 262k.  I drove it from Baltimore down to south Florida about 5 months ago when I moved here. A/C has been removed but still has power steering. The interior is stripped and gutted except the dashboard, there's still some wiring that could be removed from there but I'm not knowledgeable enough about wiring to mess with it. Sunroof assembly was removed and replaced with a sheet of tinted polycarbonate which actually cracked (whoops) so comes with a new sheet of polycarbonate.

motor is a D16Z6, SOHC VTEC. 5 speed manual. Spare heads from running cars at LKQ are about $70, if I was going to keep it i was going to buy a spare head and rebuild it with a big Delta cam regrind (which is about $100).

Car is in southern Sebring, FL

Also the car has a clear title and is currently insured. It doesn't have a seatbelt, just a 5 point that needs the mounts for the sub belt and the right side side belt welded in so I try not to drive it but to keep it all nice and healthy I do take it around the neighborhood about once a week. Carefully, Since it's pretty loud haha.

My buddy is interested for a project that he and his 16 year old son can enter in the challenge this year.

Can you message me your phone number so I can put him in touch with you?

Thanks

Oops! I was at the track all weekend and spaced this out. I'm really looking for a parts car and spare engine/trans for the ITA car. I think thats just too many miles to be revving tha engine to 7.5k every shift. Thanks anyway.

If we didn't already have a Lemons "problem child" I'd be all over this.  I mainly wanted to point it out to those who might be considering making the leap.  Between the way cars are actually judged and your willingness to write up the bill of sale this car would be a slam dunk.  Throw a cage, seat/harness, & fire suppression system in there and send it.

GLWS!

I know I'm a broken record, BUT!

Used turbo setups for this car (turbo, manifold, intercooler, BOV, WG, charge piping, sometimes injectors) are $300 and come up pretty frequently in FL.

Run it as-is with a turbo and you'll have a 200hp, 2000lb car. If you rebuild the engine with different rods and pistons 300hp is an easy goal.

In my mind it's a pretty straightforeward path to a competitive challenge car.

When I was planning on still keeping it I was going to spend the remainder of my challenge budget on an eBay turbo setup and a 5 point rollbar - those are less than $300 from a lot of places. It really has great potential and I'm sad to see it go.

Someone is coming to see it this weekend. Fingers crossed.

This looks like a pretty good deal with all the extras, if I had room it'd I'd probably spring for this cheap fun.   Being in FL, the rust is definitely a put-off...but the fact the patch panels and welder is actually included is pretty cool.  As others have mentioned, a great project for a teen or someone new to motorsports.   I hope someone in the hive picks this up and runs it in the challenge.
