A few minutes research and the speed/rpm calculator on apexgarage.com, with an assumed redline of 5500 RPM (which seems a little optimistic), this car has a top speed of about 88mph. First gear is all done before 20.

That's a brilliant way to describe this contraption!
BTW, I can confirm that an '83 F150 with the 300 CI +1 bbl carb, 4 spd manual and 31" tires will exceed 88 mph by quite a bit, exactly how much, I don't know, the speedometer only went to 85. Going east bound on I-40 down hill out of the Rockies while drafting a tractor trailer helped. 
Okay, I had the tire diameter wrong, but basically it's 5500 RPM, a .8 O/D ratio, and a 4.30 rear (I'm assuming this was an automatic car, if it's a manual, the 4.77 rear drops this to a 111 mph top speed)
It seems like a kind of cool engine and trans combo for a Fairlane or Maverick or another truck. An RX, well, anything? Not so much. Eh, not my car, not my problem.

I think their calculator may be flawed or there's some incorrect info out there.
5,500 rpm
÷ M5R2 o.d. ratio (.75)
÷ RX8 rear gears (4.44 in '04) - assuming it's a manual car
× circumference of o.e. 225/45r18 tire (81.595 inches rounded)
÷ 12 to get feet/min
÷ 5,280 to get miles/min
× 60 to get miles/hour
I got 127.6 mph breaking it down longhand.
I was very pleasantly surprised at the performance level increase MS gave the Ford pushrod 3.0L V6!
It went from turd to HELLO!
I would expect a similar result with a 300"

As I'm reading, I'm trying to justify the length/height of the engine. Then I saw the pictures. When the radiator is well above hood level, well, not impressed with the engineering. Not surprised, but morbidly interested at what you would do for a hood for this thing.

Yeah, I think I got bad data into the calculator. ~127 is actually not too bad, although this thing will still pull stumps in first.
I wonder what that would sound like, a 300 inliner pushing an RX8 to nearly 130mph. Probably not something I need to experience.
