trigun7469 said:RHR and Will Buxton Join the TV team This is interesting I don't recall RHR doing much TV, but he definitely had a interesting prospective and Will Buxton would be a big land for Fox if they make it happen.
Weird article. Not sure why RHR's net worth is notable, but whatever.
I'm fine with Buxton, but if they don't also hire Hinch, we riot.
In reply to Tom_Spangler (Forum Supporter) :
I could be wrong but is RHR's role might be what Hinch does, but Hinch I bet will get a bigger role in F1 if indycar doesn't work out. It depends if Will Buxton is what he does in the F1 coverage or Netflix. He is annoying when he goes full on Netflix, drama BS. I wasn't a huge fan of Diffey so for me anyone is a upgrade. In the booth Will Buxton, RHR, and retired indycar engineer someone like Marshal Pruett but not him, and then have Hinch on the ground similar to what Robin Miller did talking to the teams and on pitlane. It's a pipe dream, hopefully they don't throw in Jr or Danica, they are the worst.

The article says RHR will be the pit lane reporter, so theoretically the booth could be Buxton and Hinch.
I'm a bit mixed on Buxton. You need a seasoned broadcaster to do the "play by play" like Diffey did, and later Mike Lee. I thought Diffey was fine, but I'm not sure about Buxton. I think a lot of what he does on DTS is scripted, so I wouldn't necessarily blame him for all the fake drama. That's DTS's whole deal. But at the same time, I don't know that I've ever heard him do the regular play by play on a race broadcast, either.
Agreed that a "color" team of Hinch with a retired engineer would be ideal. Hinch and TBell were both drivers, so there was too much overlap, plus TBell just said really inane stuff sometimes.
FOX IndyCar Booth Is Will Buxton, Townsend Bell And James Hinchcliffe It's official now again being overly critical sometimes the back and forth would be best with a engineer instead of Bell and Hinch, but regardless there could be a worst booth.

Agreed. I can live with this booth.
Also, Fox ran a pretty great ad for Indycar during the NFL playoff game on Sunday:
There are supposedly two more coming, one with Palou and one with Pato. I think it's really well done.
NASCAR fans were *big* mad that Indycar got such an ad on Fox.
Twitterverse says NASCAR controls marketing in a way Indycar doesn't with regards to broadcast partners, no idea if that's true or not.
Hopefully Fox doesn't use the stupid driver cartoons for Indycar, and theire ratings can reverse from recent lows.

Well Will Buxton said that indycar could be the most popular series in America
I am finding the Conor Daily Videos on youtube interesting. He said during one of his podcast that Fox has really stepped up the marketing with the show clips he was involved in.
So I have seen pictures of seat fitings but not videos on how they do it seat fitting I found this video interesting, however the beads is something new to me. Do they use this material in all series?
Hopefully all of this attention can be used to update the cars some.
But I'm also hoping Fox can get Indycar to make sure most of their races are on at a consistent time. Like a majority of them on Sunday afternoon.
I had to scroll back nine pages to find this sadly. I think there are at least a few Indycar fans in here! It's race week, who will be on the top step Sunday? I am looking for Joe New to come out very focused and set the tone for the season early, but that's just me!

My title pick is Scotty Mac. He keeps improving, he has quite a bit of experience in these cars now, he's won on every kind of track, this just feels like the right time for him to put it all together.
But I would never bet against Palou right now. He's the total package with his team and everything.

I would have to agree those are both strong choices. I wish the Bus Bros would get back together but it feels like that bridge has burned. And I might be the last Newgarden fan left...

It seems like Josef doesn't mind being cast as the villain. Hell, even Marshall Pruett has started calling him "Homelander".
"Homelander"! That is a good one. He is easy to hate, being so handsome and good at what he does. In his social media posts he comes across as an arrogant guy, but I talked to him at the Rolex 24 race several years ago (before he ever drove there), and he was really cool. He was in the crowd ahead of me trying to get through the crush at the gridwalk and get to the grandstands to watch the start. There with a few buddies, who seemed like really normal guys; they were just there to watch the race. They seemed amused that someone had recognized him.
I asked him if he was rooting for anyone in the race, and he said Scott McLoughlin (who was driving an LMP2 car that year).
Former MLB superstar Alex Rodriguez will be riding in the 2-seater Indycar at the Firestone Grand Prix of St. Petersburg this Sunday.

Well, I think that P2P scandal last year dinged his image a bit, too. There's the arrogance, to be sure, but you can't say he hasn't earned it, the guy is damn good. But he made sure they got plenty of shirtless footage of him on "100 Days to Indy", too.
Not much passing, but the tire strategy was interesting. I thought Rossi and Lundgard might have lucked into a good deal for a while.
Edit, 10 laps later, p21 to p10 for Rossi was a pretty good strategy. Lundgardd to 8th.

AA luck even with Michael Andretti stepping away.
They can't seem to get it right, season after season.
They have the drivers, and they know how to build a fast race car, but they just don't seem to be able to put it together on race day like Ganassi or Penske do.
How about Dixon putting in another strategic master class while having no radio for most of the race?
Boy, they REALLY did not want to run those softs!!! Is it going to be like that all season (a bit track dependent I expect)?
Is there a story behind Andretti stepping away?
In reply to Tom_Spangler (Forum Supporter) :
Palou is king these days, no doubt. Mclaren almost had a 1-2 1-2 day around the world.
Thermal is certainly not my idea of a great track, but it was never designed to be one. I would haaate running it, myself, although you would at least kill all your tires instead of just one side.
