30 Days until the Challenge. Wrench faster and shop for cheap beer!
This is when I wish my wife was still a flight attendant. Then I realize she made no money and was never home.
Days of wiring ahead of me, a car that hasn't moved under its own power since Early November 2013, and an untested motor, trans, and turbo?
Sure! Sounds great!
I'm not going to bother making a single attempt towards concours save for hosing the car off and wiping down the wheels. This body/paint is a lost cause, especially after the $2012 vinyls tore enormous sheets of paint off the car upon removal. (How in the world does THAT work?)

Weird... I had the exact same problem with the $2012 Challenge vinyls on my car... I wonder if they used a different glue for that batch...

Yeah, i'm not sure what to do about it. Repainting the car hits Challenge budget that i don't currently have, but i can't buff/wax the paint anymore without tearing more sheets off because i've got big paint edges everywhere.
So i guess it's just doomed to look even worse as long as it stays a challenge car?
I didn't say anything, i figured it was the only one and just had really thin paint or something. Mazda single stage red isn't known for being really great in the first place.
But now that there's two of us... what do?

In reply to Swank Force One:
ask around sign shops for vinyl scraps, cut patterns out of vinyl, apply....profit?

My "livery" is "Paint with white internet memes everywhere," though.

That's about where we are at too.
I ain't even found my challenge car yet. Or the budget. So about the same as always.
I WILL be there next year, even if its just to show the forum the drivabeater. And hang out.
I'll be there spectating and looking for ideas again this year, but no car. I do have a roller sitting in the garage with no donor drive train yet. So, humour me when you see me under your hood with a tape measure.

Nope..
All that's left to do on the rx7 is replace the faulty battery cut-off switch, fix some exhaust leaks, and wash it.
I should be able to get this done for $2017, barring any unforeseen circumstances.
At this rate, I won't be able to pay for my 2 banquet tickets. Is there a discount if we don't eat? I mean this seriously. The powers that be, what say ye?
I really want to attend one year just to meet everyone. Maybe when the kids get older I can stop making excuses.
Drag Week wiped out 11 days plus time used to prep, so we're way behind. We could use help. Anyone willing to bring a radiator up from Southern Maryland (below Washington) to York, Pennsylvania? I could use the 5 hrs to wrench. And it is going to help alot to have that time. We could use some wrench hands too. Most of the heavy fab is done. Brakes done, rear done, engine hasn't run since 2010 but its in, cage done, seat mounts fabbed, wiring 75%, gas tank modified.
Needs - alignment, fuel lines, brakes bled, battery mount, throttle linkage, exhaust, driveshaft, finish wiring, sway bars, mount tires, bumpers, hood, tach, ignition, interior panels, window net. Great - now I'm depressed.
Wishful wants - wipers, parachute mount, NOS installed, roof rails, window retainers,
Parachute? It needs a parachute? You MUST get this ready in time Andrew. We.the spectators demand it.
You'll need to log in to post.
