I've been offered a couple of project-like cars in a swap for my somewhat busted Suzuki DR650. Not that I need another project or three but it does make me wonder if you can turn an MGB (yeah, rubber bumper, too) into a low-buck track car without too much effort?
Supposedly the shells are rust free, one of them has an OD gearbox and the other one an engine that was supposedly rebuilt not too long ago. Neither of them have roofs and supposedly the interiors aren't that great either (ie, mostly busted).
If we were talking MGB GT I'd probably be all over it but I'm a bit hesitant at the moment.
Plus, I'd need the doghouse because that's where I'd end up if I dragged home any more non-working cars.

Well, currently I'm waiting for a couple more photos.
Actually I've got a pretty good size stick-built doghouse sitting in my back yard that you can have. It's got a shingle roof and vinyl siding. I think the floor is 3' x 4'. Our dog Jackson passed away in January and I haven't gotten my neighbor to come over and help hoist it onto my truck. Damn thing must weigh 300 pounds. You can keep any rodents that might have taken up residence.
I would take the claims of being rust free with a grain or two of salt. I'd also think really hard about what you're hoping to get out of the car and how much work you're willing to put into it. On a more upbeat note though, the rubber bumper aspect isn't such a bad thing; at least if you decide to swap an engine in that makes actually makes respectable power you'll have an easier time of it. That might sound negative, but I have a beat up 66 torn apart right now and might be a little bitter over some of the discoveries that came with tearing it down.
I had a dream the other night I was riding a DR650 with a motard conversion to class.
Rent a shed in Carson, She'll get over it.
sleep in the garage like everybody else
There are too many car parts stacked in the garage to sleep on any flat surface there...
Given that the condition of the cars seems to be "flat-towable" I'll probably give it a miss unless someone here wants to grab one or two. In the latter case, please PM me...
