Didn't even mean to but the voice in my head was a perfect Rut voice. It made me laugh at myself. I find myself doing that a lot these days...

A big thing to remember is episodes for "This year" are probably already planned and damn near scripted by now. Filming for an episode on this years schedule was probably never going to happen.

we can always hope for next year...still trying, though
I still think it's possible they could enter and film at this years challenge, I just don't think it would be on this years show season.

I'm fine with that.
Me too!
(Of course everything I say is purely speculation as I have nothing to do with the show or anything related to the entertainment industry )
We'll see if they are in tune with their audience. This, the GRM crowd is a major part of their core audience. I don't mean the GRM readers are the majority of viewers, I mean our mind-set is who that show is aimed it. Honestly, I doubt if they'll ever show as a group. Maybe one or them (RUT) but it'll be low-key. I doubt the network wants to share the spotlight.
I'm not trying to be a downer, I REALLY hope I'm wrong.
Rut, I'll be there in 2013. If you beat me in the first day of competition, I'll wear a pink tux the second day.

....and we all promise NOT to do this to you guys.
60 or so teams show up for the Challenge. Going all "BUT YOU OWE IT TO THE FAAAAAANS" is a little creepy star trecky, and let's face it, the "competitive" Challenge car bar has been set so high that we may not exactly be their "core group."
That said, it would be cool if they showed, and awesome exposure for grm.

Very true...anybody can try to participate (even someone like me with limited abilities and no background in cars) but few have the talent and skill to be competative like you guys.

Yeah....that may be the starting point, but the superturd is proof that repeated builds have given the Hongs an impressive set of skills.
I would expect that the average person thinking about the challenge doesn't know how much time, effort and skill it takes for you guys (or the Nelson clan, or any other top team) to turn a car worth nothing into something that is both fast and pretty.
Don't forget alcohol. Hongs run on that stuff.

I'm not sure I understand. We are cars guys (and girls) inside and out. The readership on this board drives Yugos to Italian exotics. We know the difference between oversteer, understeer, torque, and downforce. Some of us race, some of us don't. The challengers are a small sampling of this demographic. If we are not the target audience for a show that is supposed to hold a candle to UK top gear, who is?

I sent an email offering to let him drive a car made out of used appliances. No response.

I am also in favor of this, and the idea it might be postponed until 2014 makes me very happy. Becuase I'll be back there by then

Sorry man. I could swear I read "Challenge crowd" in your post. Not "GRM crowd." My bad! You're right!
