The gearing of the Getrag 221 is the REALLY close E36 M3/E34 530i. The E34 530i also has 3.07 final drive.

Yup the V6 has that same wonky fan thing. The PO has an electric fan wired to run all the time.

So I pulled the 4.8L outta the corner and added from stuff to it.
I threw together a quick spreadsheet and it about $150 outside challenge budget without selling any parts off the car 
The hot cam Keith has for sale is calling my name . . . 
I can use some 3/8" plate and stock Lincoln LS V8 mounts to get the motor in without too much hassle.
Hmmm... Toyman had a Sable with a good Duratec... wanna sell the gearbox? 
He is the first person I am going to call when I pull it.
