^Did you miss the part about another car to deal with getting rid of and letting the dealer do it, makes my life easy. Also not interested in buying a truck with a ton of miles on it, again I mentioned that as well.
Not trying to be a jerk, I just find it funny I laid out certain things I'm not going to mess with, and people will continue to suggest them.
Spoke with a couple of Nissan dealers today, seems the truck I want is selling for about $5500 under MSRP out the door.
Also had someone contact me on another forum for the Nissan plan pricing, so I'm going to see about that as well.
Definitely look into the new Frontier. Sales have stagnated pretty badly as it's at the end of it's cycle, and you can make some killer deals.
If the new thing isn't working out, I still say to checkout the previous-gen Frontier SC. You could get the Super Cab Longbed (AFAIK) with the sweet Supercharged motor, 4x4, and a stick. I looked at the King-Cab version of that truck for a looooong while.
I did exactly the same thing, for the same reason 5 years ago. Used was overpriced, and new was discounted. I also wanted a Nissan. I bought a GMC Canyon. It's been so good, I'm thinking about buying another new one for the same price.
Going to look at the Canyon now, couldn't earlier since Flash is currently blocked at work.

Woof, I'm curious as what made you change your mind from the Frontier to the Canyon.
Since I'm basically wanting the same thing you were when you made your decision.
Sorry that I missed the part about not wanting a full size. At 6'0 AND 210 (ahem) I am much more comfortable in the plus size. Just for giggles I went to fueleconomy.gov and this is what it says for a 2010 Tundra 4wd flex fuel running E85. Just so you know...

Then there is a tacoma 4wd man trans ext cab. Gotta be much better right...

Did ya know that the Canyon is available with a 5.3 now? Just sayin...
Long story short, it was the dealers that changed my mind. I was looking seriously at both Nissan (I really liked it), and Toyota (not so much), but neither of them were interested in my business-really. Almost out of spite I test drove a Canyon, and I was impressed. It was exactly what I wanted, and you couldn't beat the price. We worked out a no BS deal, and within a few days, it was delivered. 5 years, and 250k, I have beat the E36 M3 out of it, and replaced a wheel bearing, but it's still on the original brakes. I will buy another one.

Except a lot of import vehicles are manufactured in the US and a lot of domestics are manufactured in Mexico. So if you really want to buy American then buy an import. Also, it may be different where you live but around here import pickups seem to hold their value way better than domestics.
But all US trucks are also made in, well, the US.
Except the ones that are made in Canada -- some Chevrolets, some GMCs, and some Fords.

They are interested in your business now! I had the three Nissan dealers in town nearly fighting each other for my business.
Getting a good deal on trade-in and thanks to a buddy on another forum, I got a VPP claim number that ended up knocking nearly $7500 off MSRP.
If all goes to plan, I'll be picking up the new truck tomorrow.

Well, according to our plant records- we make the Edge, Flex, MKX, MKT, and Town Car in Canada- no Trucks.
And in Mexico, it's the Fiesta, Fusion, and MKZ.
for the record, of the 38 plants in North America, 29 in the US, 6 in Canada, and 3 in Mexico. So most of the vehicles are not just engineered in the US, but made here, too.
So....

Colour me wrong -- I was sure F150s were made in Oakville. Perhaps the times they are a changin'
In reply to ZOO:
I don't recall that, and right now, it's just the FWD/AWD cars that I listed.
and we are down to 2 truck plants... Just dearborn and Kentucky.
F150's were built in Oakville Ontario (Canada) from the '60s (fourth gen) until ~2004.
FWIW.

Thanks!
It's pretty slick. Anymore, trucks are just high riding luxury vehicles.
