I have a friend (no, really it's not me) who's got a 2003 Protege5 and needs pads AND rotors. So for a guy that likes to drive and appreciates performance but wont be seeing any HPDE's or autocrossing, what would be a sensible upgrade?

I was thinking Brembo blanks and Yellow Stuff pads. Good, bad?

I'll be going to sleep now so any input is very much appreciated guys, I'll talk to my friend tomorrow afternoon and let him know what is suggested.

brembo blanks if you want to spend the money, "white box" specials if you don't. hawk HPS or Porterfield R4S pads. when changing the pads in a caliper, open the bleeder screw before pushing the pistons in. that will squeeze most of the skanky old fluid out of the system without pushing any of the impurities upstream into the ABS unit. when the pad change is complete, bleed the corners until new fluid comes out.

Hawk was my next choice thanks! I mentioned Brembo's due to the fact that I warped cheaper rotors before and figured the thicker blanks would hold up better.

Thanks for the help!

I like Centric Premium rotors. The center hat and edges come pre-painted so they don't get all rusty.

If stock replacement Brembo's are of interest, Tire Rack had a great deal for me on my Oldsmobile when I did them a few years ago. Like $40 a rotor or possibly less. No reason to go white box when they're that cheap, at least that's my thinking.
