I'm staring at two T56s in my garage and dreaming about a Mark VIII with a clutch.

This must happen!

This would be a wonderful car for a distinguished gentleman who might be accompanying a beautiful lady to an evening at the theater for a gala/benefit.
It will also run 14.8 in the quarter if you remove all the interior!
But then where would that beautiful lady sit?
Part of me would love pulling up to a black-tie event in a caged turboed challenge car. Anyone have an LS swapped Pinto I can borrow for our next event?
I was always told that attractive young women didn't go for guys who drove old beaters and wasted away their hours tinkering and getting grease under their fingernails. Glad to see Curtis proving that old axiom wrong.

Didn't take mine that direction since I already have a 5-speed Supercoupe (it's getting a T56 swap too, though). But I'm happy to be an enabler for others, and it's definitely doable. I have no fabrication skills, so if I were going to do it in a Mark VIII I'd try to hunt down a Supercoupe clutch pedal. But they're super rare, so other guys with more fab skills have adapted Mustang parts.
The guy with the 4-valve V-10 build thread has a manual-swapped Mark VIII. Maybe some of his info would be helpful.

You might be surprised. She's not a glamor girl. She owns this dress and two others. When not wearing dresses, she's a trail runner, kayaker, hiker, camper, and other outdoorsy things. She teaches science and math, so half of her time she's digging in muddy ponds for critters to show her students. Her fingernails are often dirtier than mine.

Lucky guy! And I believe that goes for her too.
I took it for a spin today. It has typical old-man oops dents, but only on the front right fender and a wee scuff on the rear bumper that will probably buff out. Interior is mint. Power seat is sluggish. Paint is nearly showroom.
One rattle in the rear that sounds like a brake caliper that will need to be looked at, but what a ride. The
We shook hands on $3000.
IT'S MIIIINNNNE. Paperwork soon.
Added bonus... it's an LSC, which means it has the 10 whole more hp and a 3.27 rear instead of the 3.08.

Have I now influenced two of your vehicle choices?
Congrats. I hope it's as good as it seems.
In reply to John Welsh :
Yes. And the first one has turned out quite well, so if this one turns out to be crap, it's your fault.
Kidding.
I gave it a pretty good shakedown. I don't mind if I have to do something like brakes or something, but I think it's a darn solid car.
Sunroof inop, power seat sluggish, and seat memory is a little wonky, but I'm sure that's an easy fix (he says confidently)
Otherwise in fantastic shape. Needs an interior dusting, but the leather and carpet are both great.
I did notice the tires (despite having next to zero wear) are dated 2013. It was always in a garage, so they're not cracked or checked from excessive UV, but I'll have to make new sneakers a priority.
Verrrrry cool! I never knew I liked these, and I really like the way yours looks in that color. I'm imagining it will look even cooler with some different wheels, or maybe just lowered a touch.
Congrats!

Lowering the front is on the list. Knowing these cars, the rear will lower itself once the airbags crack.
Shopping for wheels right now. It's what I do. Buy a $3000 car and consider dropping $2000 on BBS wheels and Michelins.
