Those fries are the best aren't they?
I had low hopes, but they were cheap. They were hot and fresh and the cheese was the right shade of 7-11....the sum was definitely greater than the parts.

I learned that widening a c4 corvette 18 inches with 400 plus pounds of lumber is not the ticket to faster autocross times...
Start the car before the week of the event
Chinese fuel pumps draw the same amperage as their "real" counterparts
An evo td05 is perfectly capable of sucking open a BMW afm to the point where it will not close again.
I learned that there isn't a dB limit for the Challenge. Never really thought about it until this year.

The sambar was positively deafening.
Add 20% to whatever beer figure you come up with, you can never have enough beer. Also, not everyone likes a craft beer (like me), no one has ever turned down a cold PBR from my cooler. I am being completely serious.

Unfortunately we didn't cross paths at the right time! I still have a few coors light cans in the cooler. They're probably still cold too since I haven't unpacked the car yet and it was 36 degrees outside this morning here in chicago.

I gave away a more beer than I drank. My teammates thought I had gotten totally wasted.
In $2014 I learned to collaborate with fellow competitors because when stuff goes down hill you become better friends. This was again learned this year.
Basically do something so bafflingly crazy with a group of people from the Internet you’ve never met.
I learned that being around a bunch of like-minded enthusiasts can really lift your spirits. It can also provide soo much inspiration! Thanks guys and girls!
Bringing this back to the top again.
This year I learned it's totally worth bringing my bar just to be able to listen to Gumby, Steve Stafford, and Andrew Nelson share their knowledge over a drink or more.
I learned that the event is totally worth it even without all the driving, and that staying at the hotel on saturday night would have been the right plan. I also learned that I should really just drag whatever junk i can afford out there. Chances are I can sell it somehow if I don't want it later.
I spent considerable time listening to Andrew and Calvin explain stuff. It's always a learning opportunity.

It’s probably for the best of everyone else that there’s so much distance between the 3 of them. If they were able to team up for a year & build a Challenge car there’s serious potential that it could beat pro race teams.
I learned I need to hydrate way more than I think I’ve been doing all weekend.
Well maybe not since it’s 4-years in a row & I haven’t listened to my own advice.
I'm looking forward to learning how the Hongs fielded a CTS-V for anything in the same zipcode as $2000.

THE CAR WAS FOR SALE ON THE FORUM FOR BEST OFFER FOR MANY DAYS WITH 300K AND ONLY 4 GEARS THEY WERE THE FIRST OF US BRAVE ENOUGH TO HOPE IT WOULD WORK LONG ENOUGH TO DRIVE HOME THEN SURVIVE THE CHALLENGE
sorry for shouting, but i was asked a million times by suspicious people whispering about how BS it was. Despite their reputation, the Hongs are standup guys and there were no shenanigans. Any one of us could have picked that car up for what they paid.

The link to the for sale add
Fair enough. It was actually on sale for only 2 weeks and the final sale price isn't mentioned in the thread, but I'll assume there were enough legitimate discounts and resale items to hit $2017. Good deal.
Thanks for the information!

What I learned at this years challenge: Stay at the hotel, not across the street even if it is free. Oh and this E36 M3 is fun.
