In the hyperbrief glimpses I want to say there is a Lamborghini and a Koenigsegg in the pack of racers.
And did anyone ever specify what Lightning McQueen is?

In reply to KyAllroad:
Daytona Prototype, I hear the plot of this one is him dealing with being forced into retirement in the interest of more modern and capable equipment.
Now we come full circle:
McQueen crashes, can't race anymore, becomes mentor to new young car (who is a hybrid).
Most of them are pretty generic-looking. The one with the heart on the back has a very C7-like shape. The "IGNTR" car does have a vaguely Koenigsegg-like shape but the details don't match any of their cars. It reminded me of the FFZero concept for some reason (probably the color and thin lights), but it's not too similar to that either.
Lightning McQueen is a NASCAR "stock" car, and that's about as specific an answer as you can hope for.

That is what I hear as well and he is supposed to get a trainer from South America to help get him able to compete with the new class of race cars. He was a rookie in '06, so he would be a seasoned racer after 10 years.
Don't know about anyone else, but that trailer kind of gave me goosebumps.

This could possibly be true as well.

Yeah, kind of scared to show my grandson. He'll be crying for a week if he sees that!
In reply to 06HHR:
Just have an Alex Zarnadi video really to play afterwards and explain how BoP rules will ensure that McQueen's comeback road will be far easier.

Well let's be honest, Toy Story 3 wasn't exactly all sunshine and lollipops either. Remember we almost watched them go into an incinerator at the end?
I have a feeling what we saw was a dream sequence, the coloring is very dark and gritty for Pixar.
My oldest son was 2 when the first Cars came out. I have literally seen (and heard it in the car) that movie at least 100 times. That movie was very well done, had tons of subtle jokes for adults and a good plot. Cars 2 was nowhere near as good, IMHO. I hope this one is more true to the original. So if it's Lightning retiring due to injury, aka he's the new Doc, who's the new hotshot rookie going to be? An Elio?

If it was an Elio we would never get the movie, just some advertising on social media every six months or so.
I predict the movie starts with a big crash then through a combination of hard work and science, McQueen comes out stronger, smarter, faster (and likely as a C7 if GM is paying)

That's because it was made by an entirely different team of people. Hopefully they learned their lessons and went back to the original team
Some would argue "Dory" is a character with a disability but I'm guessing they're going to make McQueen a permanently disabled character...

Agreed.
Disney dark?
Maleficent?
The Evil Queen?
Cruella De Vil? (Is her name really Cruel Devil?)
Ursula?
Captain Hook?
Jafar?
Hades?
Scar?
Queen of Hearts?
Gaston?
Diablo?
Big Bad Wolf?
Lucifer?
Shere Khan?
King Candy?
Pink Elephants?
Sid Phillips form Toy Story?
Oh, say it isn't so! Surely we can trust them with our grandchildren!
Anyone who thinks that is dark, has apparently not watched much Disney.
Remember, Don Bluth said you can make a kids movie as dark, and scary as you want, as long as it has a happy ending.

The movies I enjoyed most as a kid were Don Bluth movies. Especially for the metal-as-berkeley scenes sprinkled throughout \m/

The part of All Dogs Go To Heaven where Burt Reynolds dog has visions of hell terrified the E36 M3 out of me as a kid.
