Then down the cost of South America, any tips? Besides don't drink the water. LOL: I am old and spending all my kids money.

Sounds like a ton of fun. Catch up with the locals wherever you are at. I make a point to ask what the best local food is and where to find it. If I have the time I usually ask what the one area or activity is that really is theirs.
I've been through it a dozen times, at least. Takes pics: of the locks, The Cut, the mules, each end. People like those. Oh, don't go outside without a LOT of sun protection. That sun, even in December, will rip the hide right off you. The water is probably OK to drink. It was 30 years ago anyway, when The United States of America still ran the place.
Will you be able to get off the boat?
There is a good little museum there with history of the canal, it's construction, and a simulator that lets you try and navigate a boat through the locks yourself.
The original construction is really amazing- the engineering feats they accomplished almost entirely by hand are incredible.
If you can get off the boat, the historic quarter of Panama City is called Casco Viejo, and it is incredible. Wonderful varied architecture dating back to the 1600's, and a few as far as the 1500's.
We are stopping in Cartagena, Costa Rica, Antigua, Cabo San Lucas, Acapulco, then on to LA and fly home. I guess SWMBO has activities planned at each stop. cliff diving, whale watching, jungle tours etc... Thanks for the input.
If you're running a little bit hot at night, be sure reach down...between your legs,and...eeeeease the seat back.
