On June 4 2010 ,I ordered a 2011 Fiesta. The dealer said 6-8wks delivery. Then it was due in on Aug 2.
Then word was that the car was at the railyard in Buffalo.
Dealer called Ford trying to expedite shipping. Got word it would be in over the weekend, 14th/15th. Still no car. I think they lost it.
Everyone has been very appolegetic but that doesn't get me my car.
I'm getting frustrated.

When I read the title I thought I was going to be reading about megamall parking lots.
Nummer dues bude. Sorry you haven't gotten your car yet.
Let's see, this is a completely new model, and it comes by rail a couple of thousand miles across 2 different countries....must be a conspiracy to keep you from getting your car.
Seriously, things like this happen when a car is brand new to the market. Let's just hope "your" car hasn't gone to someone willing to pay WAY over sticker to get "the next new thing".
BTW, the Memphis metro area has 5 or 6 Ford dealers. They are "sharing" about 20 to 25 Fiestas. And there are dealers in my folks neck of the woods, upstate Pa. that don't have ANY Fiestas yet.
i'm betting Ford sells a E36 M3 load of these. gonna make GM and Chrysler look silly.
I just got the $ 50 sympathy card.
It seems the cars are shipped from Mexico by boat in containers. Then by rail to distribution areas. Ford says the car is in Buffalo but they can't get it unloaded and put on a truck.
My dealer has had two. One sold and the other for sale but is loaded with every option.

Shoot, you're not that far away. Tell the dealer you'll go and unload it yourself!

My father's boss used to call him from airport parking lots regularly so Dad could remind him what kind of car his boss drove.
Good to see "American" cars built in Mexico.

Thanks NAFTA!!
I remember that when the civic si came out, a guy went and ordered one for sticker, game him the Vin and everything, then sold it out from under him when it showed up and someone wanted to buy it for way over sticker. Hopefullythats not what happened, but if you have a vin already run a carfax on it

I thought it was going to be about Hurley's Camaro, Jack's early Bronco, or maybe one of the Dharma Jeeps or Microbuses on Lost.
Good luck with the new car delivery.

I thought about that. I'd have to find the right container.
In my younger, dumber, misspent youth I went drinking in the Buckhead bar district. You could walk/crawl from bar to bar. I was ready to go home but couldnt find my car. Probably a good thing. It was late the next day before I could even get up to go look for it.
Latest on the car which is going on four weeks overdue.
My salesman called the guy in charge of shipping at Ford.
This is his story. The hurrricane that hit Mexico awhile ago wiped out the rail lines that Ford usually uses, so they had to take a roundabout route, which messed things up. So now the car is on a truck/trailer somewhere in Maryland.
As soon as the truck/trailer is filled it will be on it's way north. I have come to the point where, when I see it in the dealers lot, I will believe it.
The next problem. Ford sent me a card offering a $750 rebate. The program expires 8/31. The dealer said he will look into it.
damn, is UPS doing the shipping?
Any late is unacceptable, let alone 4 weeks. Sure, things happen, but if you were a supplier to Ford, and your delivery was behind schedule, how do you think they would feel about it? Ask me how much we spend to expedite parts, when we have trouble meeting our obligations to the big 3.
It's in MD? I'll go pick it up and drive it over for you. Trade ya for that $750 Rebate?

A couple of times when I worked for a Tier 1 supplier in Detroit we had a helicopter land in our parking lot so we could get parts delivered on time. It was cheaper than shutting down a Big 3 assembly line.
Make sure Ford honors that rebate or the dealer compensates you somehow. A 4 week delay is unacceptable.
