I followed this build years ago, guy has done some great work in the locost community.
In reply to Indy - Guy :
That was an exciting one to watch. Glad he won it since the other guy hadn't even commented on it.
I'm kinda dumbfounded at how much it sold for. I guess with the books and all it's seen to be a significant build. When guys scratch build Locosts, they're lucky to get more than $10K for one. But wth, Kurt's given a lot to the builder community and I'm happy for him.
Speculating here but if the buyer is in california, I'd surmise that a large part of that cost is paying for that license plate and title. Smog checks and car mods are no joke here and having all of the leg work done to get that sb100 title is huge.
I'm super glad to see kb58 do so well on this. I hope it met his expectations. It is a great car, built to a high standard, and obviously very well documented!
In reply to jfryjfry :
Not really. The SB100 process is relatively easy and costs very little. Surprisingly so for a state with a reputaion as home to any number of bureacratic nightmares.
I only just found this thread, after starting this one - https://grassrootsmotorsports.com/forum/cars-sale/midlana-for-sale-was-on-bat-winner-backed-out/196373/page1/
