We stayed at a little place in the mountains called the Balsam Mountain Inn that was fabulous for a weekend getaway. This was a couple years ago and at the time, there was basically no cell service there, a terrific restaurant, and just a delightful old hotel with books to read, games to play, and puzzles to work on. For "doing things", it's right outside Asheville, maybe a 15-20 minute drive I think.
Showed their website to Jenny. She likes it. Niw to find some good eats and interesting activities nearby.
I prefer Waynesville to Ashville if you want mountains. We stayed here the last time we were up there. http://www.windoverinn.com/
Savannah is another cool one. We stayed here last time. https://www.elizathompsonhouse.com/
We have reservations now.
Suggestions for itinerary?

Where are the reservations? Mountains, or sea?

Sorry....
Balsam mountain inn. Outside Asheville.
She likes the off the grid idea.
I am all for a werkend away from everything curled up reading, however i want to have some sort of plan of events/foods. Give her some options for things that will help recharge her spiritual/emotional bank.
Theatre/live music/good food/museums/historical sites/very oddball stuff all work for her. Lots of driving and looking out the window don't, so blue ridge parkway is out for this trip. And we'r taking the minivan.
Me? Im along as the driver/atm
Thanks to this thread the GF and I are looking at hotels in Asheville for a long weekend getaway at the end of the month. Sure, it's 750 miles away, but we don't mind driving. We may start the drive home on Saturday and overnight halfway to take some of the pressure off on Sunday.
Savannah might be a bummer or blast. Saturday is Saint Patrick's day. No beer allowed at the parade so it might not be too obnoxious. I actually thought about driving down after work Friday night but it's approx. nine hours. After a 12 hour shift. Probably not.
Sounds like you have the start of a plan. Go to the biltmore on Saturday. When done take her to a nice dinner. After dinner a walk while holding hands. Then a massage (you give her). IF she is interested, then the above mentioned sexy time (she should be) but this time is about focussing on her. Making her feel good, happy, wanted, and desired is your goal for this weekend.
We went to the biltmore way back when and it was really cool. A nice way to spend a few hours together. Any time together WITHOUT herding kids is a good time.
