I'm kind of wing nut. I love all things buffalo wing. Around the holidays, I could a gazillions wings for my family. Looking to mix things up a little bit, adding another flavor the menu. What can the GRM masses suggest to me.

Currently, on the menu Vermontolo-Traditional buffalo with Maple syrup mixed in/ Spicy garlic-stolen directly from buffalo wild wings/ maple BBQ/ Spicy BBQ/ Jerk/ Asian zing-also stolen from buffalo wild wings/ Chili-lime/

Looking for something else that isn't overly spicy

Buffalo Wings Mango-Hab is my favorite, but ruled out on the spicy clause

Here in Ohio, this one is popular which is basically wing sauce mixed with ranch to make a lighter hot or basically a "pre-dipped" wing.

My old local wing place used to have some odd stuff. They had a spicy cranberry one that wasn't on the menu, and it was good. They also made any of their sauces mild, medium, and hot, including the sweet ones. Teriyaki habanero was REALLY good, too.

Honey garlic

unsauced, but with a little Chinese 5 spice in the dredge

My preference is a traditional buffalo wing sauce (equal parts butter and frank's) with a little BBQ sauce and maybe some Sriracha mixed in if I'm in the mood. Then I dip in the blue cheese. Messy gooey yummy.

unsauced with salt and fresh black pepper in the dredge

You do dredge and fry, right?

I like all the myriad of sauces out there and many mentioned here, but I just can't understand eating wings on purpose if you aren't the youngest child and have no other choice.

There is a local place here that bakes the wings with a smokey hot rub, then deep fries them, and applies brown sugar as soon as they come out so it crisps on top like candy. It makes a perfect hot/sweet/crunch far beyond what should be adorned on the scraps of industrialized chicken shreds.

Damn you people. Now I'm making plans to go there later.

Look for the Cook's Country "sticky wing" recipe. We just made those and they were pretty good. Primarily a soy-ginger combination with a little heat. We would reduce the amount of ginger and add some heat.

I cook the wings a few different ways based on preference of different family members. Smoke, Fry and bake and some combinations of the three. Some of them really liked the baked wings, where I basically slow cook them in the sauce. I personally can't stand them that way, as they are slimy. One my favorites is to bake them in the jerk sauce, and then flash fry them, making a blackened wing. Buffalo Wild Wings Mango Habanero is pretty popular with some of the family, but unfortunately they won't be home for the holidays this years, so they are dropped from the menu. I'm thinking I want something sweet rather than something with heat. I have plenty of spicy options.

I usually cook about 30 lbs, and the variety of cooking methods works out in terms of places to cook the things in the amount of time.

Not to anyone's liking, perhaps, but for way out there (especially this time of year) find some Hershey's Kisses mint flavored. Melt the Kisses and slather on the wings just before they are done. Probably more of a dip than a flavoring tho? And no, I've never tried this, I don't care for wings.

oh....and my favorite way to cook any wing is this. I slow cook them in a covered pan for about 20 minutes, pour off the fat, then lightly coat with sauce and cook another 15 minutes. Then flash fry for a couple of minutes, then coat with sauce of choice. You end up with a tender wing with a crisp outside. Makes for extra work, but it's worth it.

Funny, we went to our favorite market yesterday, and wings were more expensive than boneless breasts, drumsticks, or thighs. What's up with that?

I'm surprised no one has suggested bacon flavor yet. Not my cup of tea but maybe yours.

I'm from Buffalo. This thread is so wrong :( The only choices you need are mild, medium, hot and suicidal. Anything else is just wrong.

Ok, BBQ wings are acceptable and there's a local place that does a garlic parm wing in their million degree coal fired pizza oven that's good. I'm just old school when it comes to my wings.

They make their own sauces and like to mix it up quite a bit.

They sell their sauces, but you might get some inspiration from just the ingredients.

Love that place.
