WTF causes this?
I swear it wasn't there yesterday. Doesn't hurt, doesn't seem thinner, I don't think I've been near any chemicals, I don't think I bashed it on anything.

Oh no, this could be the end of your hand modelling career!
Squeezed it in anything or touched anything hot to the fingernail? I remember I got something similar from working in an engine bay one time...

Hmmm, I was using the MIG under the Saab a couple days ago, might have touched the wire or caught a BB. Pretty sure I always had my gloves on but sometimes I'm overconfident...
At the growth rate of fingernails, that was an injury weeks to months ago. Think back to figure out when you last injured that finger, or don't worry about it.

Just put some antibiotic cream on it, on all of them actually. I think cuticles are like tooth gums, the seal bad things out, yours are dry rotted.
Der Googlez makes me think it might be nail psoriasis but please take that with a grain of salt. If it were me I'd move my annual physical up and have this checked out as well.

I have psoriasis, and it isn't like that in my case. Rather than a single big dent, it's more like a series of tiny pinholes:
I think the OP is from a previous injury, 6-8 weeks ago.

Yeah, one of the photos I saw online was more like AC's, but the description I read sounded more like what you have going on.
