Love ZZ Top. I could never grow a beard like theirs. But that doesn't matter. It's all about the music, isn't it? They could be clean shaven and bald. Doesn't matter. I once saw Cadzilla at the Petersen, probably twenty years ago. Interesting car. Made me like ZZ even more.
Bonus track:
The "Palms to Pines Highway." Actually, CA Highway 74 at the intersection with CA Highway 111 in Palm Desert. This unfortunate incident happened about ten miles into the drive when a Porsche idiot lost control (going downhill) and went through the barracade and down the cliff. I know exactly where this happened, and it was unfortunate ... a tragic incident, but totally at the fault of the driver. I know the road and have driven it many times (carefully). But the tow company made the most of it and incorporated a music video ad into it.
So we were at our local pub tonight (Bill's Place, West Warwick, RI) and bartender Kevin suggested we listen to Concrete Blonde. We're home now listening to Concrete Blonde. This is one of the songs. Meh.

Their first album back in 1986 wasn't too bad. After that, meh. They put on a decent live show way back then.
So we were back at our local pub this evening because it's their annual big St. Paddy's day party ... done the Sunday before the actual date. So today was the day. Huge crowd. Great Irish band. But after an hour or so we were ready to leave. Back story: earlier today I had expended an incredible amount of effort grappling with a large dead branch that had blown out of one of our trees in a recent storm. It was on top of some other bushes. It was a pisser of a task. But I did it, and said that SOB of a branch will be burned tonight. So we left Bill's Place and went home to a nice fire in the fireplace ... that damned dead branch, now cut up into small pieces. We had had enough Irish music, so we queued-up some 80's era Chicago blues in front of a hot fireplace (damn that branch), and enjoyed some wine at home, where we'd rather be anyway.
Another back story, when I was a working stiff, one of my responsibilities was IMTS in Chicago held every even- numbered year in September (if you're not familiar with it, check it out online). Occasionally, during those trade shows, we would stay at the Conrad Hilton Hotel downtown (the medical triage center for the '68 riots). Anyway, a block behind the Conrad Hilton was Buddy Guy's Blues Club. Well, how convenient was that? I spent a lot of evenings there.
We were at Bill's tonight (i.e., our local pub). Talked to a new guy at the bar who's name is "Wayne Shepherd." Hmm, well that's easy to remember. So from now on, when we see him, his nick-name is "Kenny."
The Moana soundtrack. I have kids, judge all you like. The worst is when I am half way to work before I remember to turn it off!
A little Matt Good, because I like Matt Good....
