Inspired by the DIY thread and because we have talented people on this forum.

I'll go first.

Im building a wood and canvas kayak from some old Mechanix Illustrated plans.

Because building a boat in a basement is the thing for a mid-40s guy to do and I've never built a boat before.

I built my own French Doors to fit in the area of the window opening. Removed the window and lower part of the wall. Changed the header support beams. And installed the doors with a permit! Now I have a place to do repair/restoration or what ever. It took me about three months to do it all.

The work bench will do the job I need it to do. And it has been used as you can see.

Testing the limits of my MTB's wacky custom 3x drivetrain. Just tried a setup with over 700% gear range (22-30-40t rings, 11-42t 9s cassette), so it can climb up hills like a modern 1x and still hit 60km/h bombing down them like a road bike. Shift quality is getting pretty questionable though:

Also been doing work on the Toyobaru's digital twin, at this point I need a dyno measurement to improve accuracy further...driving sims are kind of non-automotive right? cheeky

Just finished speaker build #8, I think (the pair).  The other one is from the previous pair I built.

Those C-notes are amazing.  I have two pair.  One I use for my home theater paired with a sub and some Definitive rear satellites, and the other pair are the monitors in my studio.

My Christmas gift to my partner's daughter is a full remodel of her bedroom, including a ton of built-in furniture.

She's traveling for a week. It needs to be done by Tuesday.

Back to work!...

Also speakers! Also started off the the C-notes (back when they cost a C-note!) many years ago and really fell into the hobby. Now Im restoring vintage JBLs (4410, 4412, L46, modified L150) and Ohms (C2, model H, model L)  as well as making some of my own designs. Latest is a budget 2-way using a 7in woofer and dome tweeter (DA175 and DC28F) in a large enclosure. Crossover is 2 inductors, 1 resistor, and a couple caps. I have been running it a few years now in my office and I am really happy with the sound.

I have run out of rooms to put speakers in, so I am re-purposing the C-notes into the upper end of a fat floorstander. Going to try isobaric for the first time. Eventually I want to play with some compression drivers as well.

I had a friend do the sanding and finishing of my upstairs wood floors.  I bought some "cabin grade" (aka discard, every piece marked with an 'X') tongue and groove oak from Eco Relics.  I wondered if I'd made a mistake when I picked it up because it was so rough.  Splits and splinters, voids, pieces cut from the edges of the log.. luckily I bought a bunch extra and we were able to be selective and throw a bunch out.

Next my friend Andy did his magic with some filler, the drum sander and stain and finish.  Two days of cleaning dust out of everything, installing quarter round and painting all of the trim that got hit with the stain, and we are mostly finished (I still have to caulk and paint the stair risers).

I'm super happy with how it came out!

Next I'm working on a well house; I had to add a softener and filter to our well, and I want something to keep them out of the weather and store the salt.  It will be finished in board and batten with a metal roof to match the house.
