As of now I have never turned a lap at Long Beach in any car so someone else will need to chime in.

So, for the record... I am currently faster than Sauce
Ran quite a few laps tonight, this is a very difficult track to get right for 30 minutes straight and the AI isn't slow here either. Long story short, race pace should be in the 1:28-29 range, which is competitive with the fastest AI cars when set at 90. Qualifying pace is 26's, though I suspect that with very low fuel and ideal conditions a 25 might be possible.
I did a handful of laps using Fuji setup with gearing changes. 1:30 was my fastest so far and that included bouncing off one wall. I may have the time to get down to a decent race pace today. We'll see.
I am working on fast setup versus easy to drive. They are mutually inclusive at this track. Gearing is also intresting. If you use the high rear end and then shorten the 5th you are a rockett down the front strate. I was seeing MPH of 10 or more better then using the gearing from Fuji just turned down across the board by a click. However with the high rear gear the power is more peakey making getting your shifting right and the gears set up for the track much more critical.
I now need to work onthe cars performance under power comming out of he corners.
Sauce I went and checked out the racing with Kingsman and his group. Good fun!!! They are fast and very good. Allot of A and B drivers with rating in the 1600's. I politely thanked Kingsman for the invite but was in the process of saying that since I did not have any tune for the car I thought it would be better if I did not become a rolling chicane or worse cause the big one. So with that one of the really fast guys gave me there tune for the BMW. It is very interesting. Quite fast but a bit snappy. I think with a bit of tuning it could be made to be really fast. That BMW is a really interesting car that we should maybe look at for future racing here. So I at least had to stay for one race. They were racing at brands hatch (long course) and as I came on to the fount strait on lap 3 there was someone spinning down the inside of the track. Just as I was committed to go by then they kicked out in the track and clipped me and caused me to spin into the pits backwards. Instant DQ from the race. So I took a 25 point hit to my driver rating for that. That really sucks. But they are a good group to run with!!!
Ran some more laps and a practice race last night, with some tweaks to the tune the car has improved. My average lap time for the race (omitting lap 1) was a mid 1:28 and only had one big mistake.
Just so someone else doesn't get caught out by it, this track is really bad about dropping sector times for the theoretical fast lap and that can apparently mess with the race timings as well. I got distracted on the back straight when it was suddenly telling me that Dean was not the 12 seconds or so back that he had been but rather almost 2 minutes behind. On this track that brief "wait, what?" is enough to cost you, and I blew my brake point and went into the wall. By the time I was going again it had corrected itself, but it was a recurring problem.
I have no idea of who kingsman is.
I did manage to complete a 30 minute stint this morning vs the AIs. I'm hoping to be able to finish ahead of the AIs tonight and if I do that I will be happy. I seem to be able to knock out race laps in the 1:29-1:30 range fairly consistently, but I didn't have to deal with traffic. I now have 30 mins plus maybe 10 laps of practice.
Only 6 more races to go and then we can move on to a different series.

Kingsman is actually KingSaturnIIV, he showed up to one of the Fuji practices, was good to run with and sent some invites. I've run with him once and he and the people in his rooms are dang fast and pretty much all are S or A rated. It's weird and a bit intimidating to be in that kind of room. I managed to avoid DQ type of rating hits but did drop a bit running with them.
I had good fun with those guys. The language can get a bit course but there are some great drivers!!!
Air
How was that going to work?
EDIT: Ok It is morning. I am better now. It was a racing thing. But dang it I thaught I was going to have a great battle with you and TJ. That track is a fun place to race. I did manage to get my way back up to 6th or 7th and was hoping to get to fourth but I was taking chances and eventually it caught up with me. I was aiming for a 4th place. Anyway next week should be great!!!
I was a bit surprised at my result since I didn't do a lot of practice/setup work. Dean saved me by sharing his setup. I made a few minor changes (gearing, tire pressures, diff settings, engine braking, brake bias) and it worked well.
Tj
the changes you made were excellent!!! I took it and put the gears that sauce had in one of his setups. I also went down one click on the rear springs and dropped tire pressures in the rear a little. This made the car consistent over the whole run. I could go as fast on lap four as I could on lap 18.
Bathurst is going to be great fun. There are 2:20s on the table just not by me. It is really interesting trying other setups. Sauce sent me his for Bathurst and it is really really fast but you have to have faith that it will stick. And it does.. Compared to mine that is more consistent but the stick levels are just not quite as high. If you were measuring grip it would be a sine wave where sauces is narrow but taller where mine is wider but not as tall. I find this interesting. To me it shows the difference between an autocross set up and the type of setup I use to try and give the drivers when we were endurance racing. It is cool that the game can actually replicate this. .

My fastest lap of the race was one of the last three and other my tank slapper on lap 1 and a couple light kisses with the walls the car seemed pretty consistent.
I'll need to work on bathurst setup and practice more than long beach or I'll not do well next week.
In reply to dean1484 :
It's a function of tire pressure: higher pressures have more peak grip but have a narrow grip window, lower pressures are a bit slower (especially roll resistance on the straights) but are easier to drive. I'm fairly certain that for this car 27 is the ideal hot pressure for the balance between grip and drivability.
My recommendation when tuning is to try to find the ideal tire pressures/temps and tune the rest of the car around that. Just be aware that sometimes you can't simulate race pressure/temps in practice so running a practice race (can be just a couple laps) as a control can help find weak points or unintended effects.

I think I was running in the 25# range last night. Haven't spent much time trying 27#. I'll give it a shot.
You can kind of see in the replay why the incident happened. I clearly got a good run out of turn 1, but absolutely lost sight of Dean. I thought I was at least a bit ahead of him at that time and planed to go around the outside of the fountain. As you can see, we kind of meet at a point (looks like Dean was a bit ahead at that point). It would have been an interesting battle since we would have had to putter around the fountain, which would have backed up the cars behind us, which would have resulted in Brad getting a massive AI rectal inspection...
I REALLY wish I could get back my left and right views. Anyone know how to adjust those? All I get is 45 left and right, which is pretty useless since it's only good for looking into corner, and not practical for doing that (since the button is on the wheel I am turning). You can adjust almost anything else in this game, but I cannot find that one.
