Lovers of cheap speed can rejoice: Registration for the 2025 Grassroots Motorsports $2000 Challenge presented by Tire Rack is now open.

While you’re at it, enjoy our revamped $2000 Challenge website, too. (Go ahead, gets your oohs and ahhs out now.)

The name of the game is still to build the fastest car possible for less than $2000, ensuring your creation can outperform everyone else in autocross, drag racing and concours judging.

As with previous years, cars built–or bought–for more than $2000 are eligible to compete in their own dedicated classes, and spectators are welcome to join in on the fun, too.

Whether you build a car for less than $2000, enter your over-budget build–or both–the thrills all take place March 29-30 at Gainesville Raceway in Florida.

For more information about the $2000 Challenge, including how you can register, visit 2000challenge.com.

The Grassroots Motorsports $2000 Challenge is presented by Tire Rack, in association with CRC IndustriesHPX Show, Miller Electric and BendPak.

Interesting picture.  And I was looking at a 944 Turbo over the weekend.  But it was $16k!  Pass.

When does the hotel start taking reservations?  Cause this guy will be there.

I think my plan is to drag the developed LMP360 down.  That is assuming we are doing a FIRM trackday again.

I will run it at the challenge Autox..  I'm not sure I would throw it down the Dragstrip as it would have ~300whp then.   That would get to spicy for me I think.

If no Firm trackday I will figure something out.

Good question and let me see if I can get an answer for you.

The hotel is looking forward to hosting us again, but right now they're still in the process of setting up our room block. If you want to book now, I'd suggest giving them a call rather than trying to book online, they might be able to set you up.

I am hoping to come down and be out-of-budget with my courier or my Datsun. Courier seems more likely. Hopeful to bring an actual challenge car in 26 or 27 again.

You'll need to log in to post.
