What's BMW cooking up now? According to Björn Lellmann, Head of Customer Racing at BMW M Motorsport, a "successor model to the BMW M235i Racing, BMW M240i Racing, and BMW M2 CS Racing."

Following in the footsteps of those predecessors, BMW hopes this car provides an entry-level stepping stone to GT3 and GT4 racing.

Furthermore, Lellmann said, “From our point of view, this also includes offering a car for grassroots racing that teams and newcomers to racing can afford and that at the same time offers them BMW M Motorsport technology at the highest level.”

BMW confirms that the car is in early stages of development. It is expected to be ready for competition for the 2026 racing season.

No further details are offered from BMW at this time–not even a name. Likewise, no official word on its availability in the U.S., either. However, the German car maker promises to offer further details at a later date.

From the article:

"Furthermore, Lellmann said, “From our point of view, this also includes offering a car for grassroots racing...."

Boy, it sounds like he thinks it's time for a GRM racing team.  You've got the stickers, you've got know-how, you've got a solid base of fans that advertisers covet.  It may be time to take that next step and turn whatever pile of money you may have into a much smaller pile of money.

Or as more succinctly said in Animal House

Otter:  "I think that this situation absolutely requires a really futile and stupid gesture be done on somebody's part!"

Bluto:  "We're just the guys to do it."

You know what you have to do. devil

Quite hilarious and out of touch that they call it grassroots racing. I haven't yet seen the pricetag of course, but i guess it will be hefty :)
