We get a lot of press releases. Most, to be honest, don’t relate to our world. The rebranding of an aftermarket belt drive company? You all can manage without that info, right?
This morning, though, we got a press release that has GRM all over it.
The opening paragraph:
Bridgestone announced today that professional race car driver Tom O’Gorman will compete on Bridgestone Potenza RE-71RS tires in the World Racing League (WRL) Grand Touring Over (GTO) class during the 2024 season.
Tom has been part of the GRM extended family for years. He’s appeared in our videos, joined us on our Midnight Tour at the Rolex, and helped us with magazine stories. We’ve hung with Tom at the Tire Rack SCCA Solo Nats as well as Sebring, Daytona, Mid-Ohio and other memorable locations. He’s one of us.
We have run the Potenza RE-71RS tires as well, as our Volkswagen Golf GTI currently wears a set. It’s a popular tire in our world.

O’Gorman will race a 2012 Porsche 987 Cayman equipped with Bridgestone Potenza RE-71RS tires and wrapped in a special Bridgestone livery in the WRL, which continues April 5-7, 2024, at Mid-Ohio Sports Car Course.
The flagship Potenza product, RE-71RS, is a dedicated track tire designed for precision performance, delivering blistering lap times, enhanced steering and grip, and extended wear life. O’Gorman has significant racing experience on the tire, for example winning the 2022 GRIDLIFE Touring Cup championship utilizing Bridgestone Potenza RE-71RS tires.
Being a Cincy guy, he was at the TNiA I went to at Putnam in Indiana, I don't remember the year but I believe the series first year and he was still a big AX guy here locally.
He was on the cover of SportsCar magazine & I took it with me for him to autograph. His entourage loved it. I told him when he's a famous F1 driver this will help make my retirement fund.
Tom is, as they say, good people.

I had sushi with him after we won Thunderhill 25hr together.
I bought a used set of RE11's off his dad, still have them too.
Engineered a couple of pro racing championships with that guy...some of my fondest memories.
