Looking for a road trip idea? How about driving 3500 miles in seven days, stopping at multiple race venues along the way and attempting to set the fastest possible time at each?
If you think this sounds familiar, that's because it’s the premise of the annual Tire Rack One Lap of America presented by Grassroots Motorsports Magazine.
For 2022, we had the unique opportunity to be a fly on the wall and deliver real-time updates. Our director of marketing and digital assets, Tom Suddard, joined GRM contributor and tire tester Andy Hollis in his 2018 McLaren 720S.
In the end, Andy and Tom finished sixth overall, with Steve Loudin and Tom O'Gorman nabbing first place behind the wheel of a 2019 Chevrolet Corvette ZR1.
Tom and Andy weren’t the only GRM-affiliated participants, though, as forum members sleepyhead the buffalo, Mazdeuce, Bobzilla and Spacecadet also participated in a Sundae Cup class sponsored by Gridlife. You can read more about their efforts in this thread.
