What is the Grassroots Motorsports $2000 Challenge presented by Tire Rack? It’s where penny-pinching and extreme speed meet–often with spectacular results.
Competitors are welcome to build a car for less than $2000, enter an over-budget build, or both: They’ll all battle against each other at Gainesville Raceway in Gainesville, Florida, to see if money really equals speed this weekend, April 6-7.
Where to keep up with all the low-buck action from the $2000 Challenge? Look no further than this thread. Follow along for live updates throughout the weekend, and feel free to add your own photos or commentary in the comments below.

Oh, God bless you on the BiTurbo! A Challenge goal that no one has yet achieved.
Please tell me you requested number 185 to remind people that all Masertis go 185. Please have a bumper sticker that reads, My Other Car is a Limo.

Get with Tom and get your feature story pictures taken early, like before the event really gets started.
I recommend video of its very first pass. Maybe even video of it driving off the trailer.
Statistically, you're facing doom and unmitigated failure so any early proof of self propulsion should be gathered.
Or, did you bring this car in its natural state...on a trailer and non running?
I kid, I kid! I am really rooting for you...but the odds are against.
