Porsche seeks to make the fastest road-legal car on the Nürburgring Nordschleife. That is if they decide to put the Mission X project into production.

The all-electric "conceptual reinterpretation of a hypercar" has a power-to-weight ratio of 1 horsepower per 2.2 pounds. The company says it offers more downforce than its current 911 GT3 RS. It also charges twice as quickly as the Taycan Turbo S.

Mission X measures 177 inches long by 78.7 inches wide. Its wheelbase of 107.4 inches makes it comparable to a Carrera GT or a 918 Spyder. The body is less than 47.2 inches tall.

Here’s a list of some of the most interesting features:

  • Almost transparent” aero blades on the rear axle that are designed like turbines to better cool the brakes.
  • A high-tech support structure frames the LED light modules and presents the exposed narrow elements of daytime running lights and indicators. When activated, the light opens up like an eye blinking open.”
  • When charging, the “E” of in rear Porsche lettering pulses.
  • Two differently colored seats, with six-point seatbelts integrated with the monocoque.
  • Multiple cameras on board. The driver can initiate recording with the touch of a button.
  • a stopwatch module with an analog and digital display is located on the passenger side’s instrument panel. “The clocks are designed for both racetrack and rally use and can display the lap times or vital data of the driver, among other information.”
  • Le Mans-style doors like the ones used on the Porsche 917.
  • Headlights inspired by the Porsche 906 and 908.

I guess I'm just so used to Porsches being shaped like 911s and Caymans, because that looks un-Porsche-like, but not in a bad way.

Agreed.  This is the least 'Porsche-looking' Porsche in years.

+1. There's something about the front end that is giving me Cadillac vibes.

I am getting "modern 917" vibes, myself.

If I squint it looks a little like a 910 to me. Maybe it's stacked headlights.
