Hmm... Maybe you have different press info, but I don't see anything in that link that mentions being able to adjust the max torque via a phone app. Or any mention of a phone app at all.
We’re seeing mobile technology creep farther and farther into our lives as enthusiasts. Now it’s in your toolbox. Milwaukee Tools is introducing their new M18 FUEL™ High Torque Impact Wrenches, an impact gun capable of 1400 ft.-lbs. of torque that comes with an app to manage the tool and select settings.
Want to throw the wheels back on your project? No problem. Just select “Lug Nut Mode” through the tool’s One-Key app and choose between two preset torque settings or create your own. It’s a crazy world we live in.

Yeah, I went looking for details on that as well and didn't find anything.
I did find that Homer wants $450 for that plus one or maybe two batteries. Seems a little rich for my blood for just doing tires a few weekends a year.

Definitely a cool idea, although I'm sure it'll have a price tag to match. So far, no "where to buy" options shown. I'd guess at least $100 more than the Plus version previously linked.

$450 for a decent electric impact isn’t bad. About what IR tends to want and definitely less than any of the rape trucks are going to want for theirs (snap on, matco, etc...)
Grreat! Because having a simple knob or two to select settings is so much more inconvenient than using an $800 phone that isn't included.
Paying extra for this privilege on top of it is the sort of thing PT Barnum would have loved.
After some searching, it looks like the bare driver isn't that bad -- about $110 on Amazon, maybe $120 from Homer.
I've got a Crafstman impact that was about $120 with the lithium battery. That's what I would classify as "decent" because it really is. The other one listed at $450 might be a great price for an industrial-grade, use-it-everyday-and-twice-on-sunday tool, but for changing 48-64 tires over the course of a year (6-8 events, 4 tires before, 4 tires after) means $2.34 per use over 3 years. That's spendy. If I'm wrong, then I'm going to start going to every autocross I can find and offer to change tires for people for $20/event!
What's the warranty on the duration that the software will be supported? Because I've been through four phones, and Android has gone from, roughly version 2 to version 8 in the time I've had my current cordless impact.
It's clever, but I just can't get my head around making my impact wrench dependent on my phone.
Call me a little tinfoil-hat, but I also can't shake the notion that it's a gimmick to allow the mfr to connect the wrench back to the mother ship. That battery's lived through a couple hundred wheel swaps? I think it might be getting tired... Maybe it'll stop charging completely, regardless of what's going on with its physical state. The power tool folks can thank the printer folks for the cynical outlook. From a more positive standpoint, they could just collect usage data and find out more about what types of use, charge/discharge cycles, etc... Trying hard to play angel's advocate

Don't be a hater.
It's stuff like this that keeps the economy rolling and puts money in all our pockets. You don't have to buy it
