BBS of America released a statement clarifying how a recently filed insolvency related to the BBS brand means to its customers. Ultimately, it says it is “not directly affected.”

Let us explain.

First off, the ISH Group is what filed for insolvency on July 26. The ISH Group, which is based in Turkey, acquired BBS Automotive GmbH last December. It then renamed it BBS Autotechnik GmbH.

BBS Autotechnik GmbH/ISH Group supplies BBS cast and flow-formed wheels. That is it.

BBS Japan co-owns the brand, with BBS Japan owning the forged end of the wheel business and BBS Motorsport.

KW Automotive NA owns BBS of America.

BBS of America manages the NASCAR program and the wheels are produced by BBS Japan, while BBS Motorsport GmbH manufactures race wheels for Formula One,” said BBS of America in its press release. “Neither of these companies are impacted by the insolvency of BBS Autotechnik GmbH. Both companies are in good standing, and our business operations with them will continue uninterrupted.”

Confusing? Yes. However, the insolvency seems confined to primarily the cast side of the business, according to BBS of America.

ISH Group only had the company for 9 months?  Wow.

I personally never cared for BBS wheel designs. I have to clean them, and their mesh designs spelled too much labor to me.
