Listen up, true believers! Your eyes will not be playing tricks on you when you watch “Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse” this summer. You will, indeed, see a flying Hyundai Prophecy concept EV.
Various Hyundais have appeared in other Spider-Man films. “Spider-Man: No Way Home” had the Ioniq 5 and Tucson.
(The cameos aren't just limited to Spdier-Man, though, as the movie adaptation of the “Uncharted” video game franchise also features the Tucson Beast concept among other production cars.)
The Hyundai Prophecy is just the tip of the iceberg of setting off your Spidey sense for Hyundais in the film.
The automaker outlined other appearances:
“The movie also features several of Hyundai Motor’s future mobility concepts for revitalizing cities, including advanced air mobility (AAM), a new form of mobility utilizing air space to reduce transit time; purpose-built vehicles (PBV), an eco-friendly urban mobility device to accommodate diverse lifestyles; and Hub, a space for mobility transfer and community activities. The movie also features a fictional self-driving robotaxi based on the Hyundai Pony, Hyundai Motor’s first-ever proprietary model. All are shown in the context of ‘Nueva York,’ a city in the Spider-Verse in the year 2099.”
So, while you might watch the movie for your favorite web slinger, you might want to keep an eye out for all those car-company cameos. ’Nuff said.
