Your Projects: A Ford Sierra GT That Thinks It’s a Swedish Tractor

It's safe to say that most of us like to go fast. Sometimes, however, there are times when it's better to take things slower.

Case in point: user therealpinto's 1992 Ford Sierra GT or, rather, therealpinto's teenage daughter's Sierra. Building a car for your child may be a good enough reason to make the car slower, but in this case, there's a little more to it.

Since this deals with Swedish driving laws, we'll just let therealpinto—an actual resident of Sweden—explain:

"In Sweden the legal driving age is 18, so that's a long wait for someone young, that wants to get into cars. But there is a loop hole, you are allowed to take a moped license at 15 and that license also gives you the right to drive a tractor.

"After the 2nd world war, there was a shortage of farm tractors, and there were rules developed to allow farmers to convert old cars into tractors.

"In the 1970's or so, the A-tractor was adopted by youngsters, as a means of transportation. The rules have evolved a bit but the same basics apply. It has a maximum speed of 30 km/h, it has to have a really low range first gear and it can not have a rear seat."

So the plan here is to turn the Sierra into a "tractor" cool enough for a teen driver, but also one that stays within the rules.

As for the cool factor, how does a bangin' sound system and air suspension sound?

Next up on the list? A paint booth to paint the car and some stiffer rear air springs that don't sit as low as the current ones.
