Good old truck, good story. I'll be watching for updates on this little piece of Americana.
We all enjoy our project cars, but some have more sentimental value than others. Case in point is forum user oldopelguy's 1985 Dodge Express.
The Express originally belonged to his late father, who bought it sight unseen in the early 2000s. The truck then went through various engine iterations until oldopelguy's father sadly passed away. The truck remained in the family, used by oldopelguy's mother as a farm truck. When she passed away, the truck was then handed down to oldopelguy.
With a Dodge big block in hand, oldopelguy plans to honor his father's legacy by creating a tribute to the Midnight Express Warlock, a dealership special edition that customized Dodge Warlocks by painting them black and replacing the 360-cubic-inch engine with a big block.
This special tribute has been affectionately named the Overalls Express.
How much progress has been made so far? Oldopelguy has removed the ill-fitting seats that came from a newer-generation Dodge truck, replaced the tailgate with one from a first-generation Dakota, and prepped the truck for a new paint job.
Because of the Overalls Express's sentimental value, we are eager to watch it progress and can't wait to see it when it's completed.
Is there a project you have that carries a particular sentimental value? Does that value change the way you work on it?
