While you might think we are just showing off now, it is pretty darned handy to have cold drinks on tap when at the track.
We welded some steel pieces to mount heavy duty drawer sliders underneath our truck’s body. From there we bent up a piece of leftover stainless steel to support the underside of the cooler.
We had some space behind the right rear wheel on our project Ramp Truck and were starting to have some fun designing and fabricating.
After installing the air compressor and generator, our next idea was to build a mechanism to hold a built-in, slide-out cooler. In theory, this sounded relatively simple. We went to Lowes and got some heavy-duty drawer slides. We also grabbed various sized coolers to see what would fit the best and still give us the most cooler space.
After some trial and error, we finally got a sliding system that worked well. This took the better part of a day, as everything had to be lined up perfectly so as not to bind the sliding mechanism.
