We installed a custom SaabRally.com Panhard bar on the rear suspension of the Saab on Saturday. It eliminates the binding that the original version has, especially when the original has polyurethane bushings pressed in.
We also attended a Martin Sports Car Club autocross on Sunday. The car was fun to drive but not particularly fast among the cones. It had way too much body roll (credit the tall and soft spring and lack of anti-roll bars) and inside wheelspin from an open differential. The body roll problem isn’t actually a problem at all—in this case, what’s bad for autocross is perfect for rally. The wheelspin issue, on the other hand, will be solved after our first rally at SandBlast.
We believe that we finished first in D-Race, which is Martin’s equivalent of E-Prepared. Our car was in that class because of the gutted interior.
