During some 30 years of playing with Miatas, we’ve made some good friends: Rob and Steve and Norman and Kevin and Chris and Randy and Amin and Ed and, well, you get the picture.

Sadly, one has left us: Joe Alphonso, owner of RSpeed, lost his battle with cancer yesterday.

His Atlanta-area shop offered lots of neat bits that you couldn’t easily find elsewhere–like the chrome mirrors on our Garage Rescue Miata.

More importantly, Joe was always kind and welcoming, warm and genuine–always eager to help and make you feel welcome.

And when Joe held a party, everyone was there.

Yeah, Joe was, as they say, good people.

Soon after my brother bought his Miata, I took him up to meet Joe. From the minute we arrived, Joe warmly welcomed him to the Miata family.
